I really like RPGs (the pen & paper kind) esp. when it is pretty much open as to the rules, plotline, etc. If the game becomes too rigid in structure, however, you tend to get more "munchkins" playing it. (For those of you that don't play RPGs, a "munchkin" is a player that plays competitively, trying to get the most goods, roll the highest scores, etc. They figure out which skills, feats, stats, class, etc. will give them the most advantages without concerning themselves with the overall plot, environment, or other characters in their party. They tend to do more roll-playing than role-playing.)
After that, then it'd probably be PC games, mostly CRPGs although I also enjoy strategy games as well. As surprisingly as it may seem, I actually don't really enjoy MMORPGs, esp. any PK ones. Those seem to be the havens for all of those "munchkins" in the computer realm. I only like MMORPGs that you can play solitary or in a closed group of friends.

Definitely I am more of a solo player, but I do get into MMORPG's especially when my husband is on. We usually just stick with each other, or as you said, with a close group of friends. We are actually going to start our first DnD campaign tonight (my husband, his boss, and myself). We've never role'd together so this should be interesting. I'm a half elf bard.... ^_^ they all make fun of me, but I'll show them how boss my little singer can be. lol

Sorry I don't play games just not my thing.

I got hooked on hidden object games after doing an offer on FC for pogo.com. Then I started playing Gardens of Time on FB. I don't pay for the gold tokens. I just play the free version which you can do if you just opt out of the payments. I don't feel pressured since I play for free.

I love Virtual Families 2. Wish I could find others that play that I could chat online with. Sometimes my little peeps do things that get on my nerves and I just wanna talk about them to somebody. And see if other people's families do the same thing. lol

I used to play board games and video games when I was a kid. I don't find myself playing them too much anymore unless I go over a friends house. Recently I taken up crossword puzzles.

I mostly play PC games, but I also like to play board games to spend more quality time with family.
