I lost my job at the first of the month and so far the company I was working for are doing a good job and blocking my drawing unemployment. I have been looking for a job but there just isn't anything anywhere. I am a member of several sites like this one but if I make 30 cents a day I am doing good. And since this isn't the 1930's that's not cutting it. I am fixing to get behind. I don't know what to do. And there is no one to borrow money from. First, you have to pay it back and if I ever find a job I will most likely need all I make to pay my bills so I wouldn't have extra to pay to someone else. And second, most everyone I know is also struggling. *sigh* :dontknow:

Sorry to hear that your having such a tough time. One thing that works for me to get me out of a funk is just to pray and talk to God about it. The Bible says to ask in faith and you shall receive. He provides for the small birds he can provide for you.

Great advice. One thing I just learned at Sunday school was that one way Satan can influence our lives in through guilt, anger, depression... etc... Those negative feelings are coming from the bad guy. Be strong. Push through. It's true in that God will provide for his children. I found this fascinating and began pushing those feelings aside... sticking my tounge out at the Devil so to speak. I've only given it a 2 days but I can feel his power at work in my attitude.

I'm so sorry you lost your job, and it's terrible that your former job is trying to block your unemployment. Hopefully you can win out and receive the unemployment. I know jobs are hard to come by, but did you try fast food places? Here in PA there are always jobs available in the windows of McDonalds, Subway, WaWa, etc. Good luck and I sincerely hope things turn around for you.

Sorry you lost your job. This can be a very traumatic experience, but it need not be the worst thing ever. You are still in control of YOU. You might consider grabbing a bottle of Windex and getting a squeegee, offering to clean the exterior windows for shops in strip malls and the like. Not many leasing companies provide that type of service for their tenants and if you offer to do it for say $20 or so, the tenants might just decide that they would rather pay you that small sum than get out there in this heat and do it themselves!
Then there is the possibility that someone in business might just offer a go getter like yourself a job!! Don't laugh, this can work for you. Get creative and DO something rather than sitting around fretting over the matter.
Best of fortune for you!

You always have to hope for the best, even when things are not happening the way you want them to. Don't lose hope, and you will find a job .

There's always a "job" out there but the question is whether someone is willing to accept that kind of work. There's also the question of knowing where to look for a job and re-gaining your confidence to land and stick with it. Its such a vicious cycle.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles! Hope everything gets better for you. Fusion will help you get a little cash to help you. Best of luck!

This is bad. In the mean time are there things you can cut back--like cable, phone? Have you applied for other assistance, like food stamps? What about looking for things in your house that you don't need and have a yard sell? Hope things turn around soon, but keep bugging the unemployment office and who ever else so that you can get your money.

Sorry to hear of your job loss. I haven't been employed since December, 2003. I survived on food stamps and finallly moved from Chicago to West Point, MS, where I grew up. I learned a lot in the past 7 years. Your family do not care what happens to you as long as you have money in your pocket; when you are trying to get help, they will turn on you. Trust me, I have been there. Continue to put your resume out there. I came back here in 2006, lived with my youngest sister and her two children, and my own sister stopped me from getting a job. When they called me to let me know I had a job, she was busy on the line doing what she does best; bashing people. I got married nearly 2 years ago, so I am a lot better off, but when someone is taking care of you, you tend to feel like a doormat. Especially when you hear the little innuendos they say in their conversation. I joined FC so I could earn something with my name on it for a change. My first cashout was for $40.81, which I split between 3 debit cards. The majority of it went on my card which I use to purchase my books (I am a student) and the rest of it is limited to 2 cards. Yet I feel fortunate.

It’s normal to feel hurt, vulnerable, or angry after losing a job. The good news is that despite the stress of job loss and unemployment, there are many things you can do to take control of the situation and maintain your spirits. You can get through this tough time by taking care of yourself, reaching out to others, and taking the opportunity to rethink your career goals and rediscover what truly makes you happy.

I know how you feel, I am in the similiar situation. Trying to cut all the unnecessary expenses possible!!
Wish you the very best!!

I hope that all the great notes of encouragement have helped you. The people here are so nice.
Things can always turn around for you. Opportunities may come from unexpected places.
Have you tried the nanny and babysitting sites? Home Health help, or Senior "sitting"? People pay well for you to take care of their children and their elderly parents.
$10 or more an hour in cash for occasional jobs. It is free to register yourself on the sites. The families pay to post their needs.
Providing a service for people is always good.
You can post a free ad on craigs list offering to do errands, grocery shopping, etc for $10 an hour. You can put a notice up at the grocery store, pharmacey, library, diner = anywhere they allow it for free.
I have confidence in you!

I did apply. They told me it can take up to 8 weeks for them to make a decision. I certify every week but as of yet I have not seen any money. And you are correct...more and more places are wanting some sort of a degree or like 2 years experience. :(

That is horrible to lose your job. Since the economy has tanked. Please start talking to the good Lord. He is the one to talk to lift the depression and stress. I pray everyday, several times a day. Success to your future.
