Post by: cloudsoup on June 09, 2009, 12:39:20 am
what's YOUR favorite flavor / brand?

now that its summer, i've been adding icecream
to my grocery list. i've always been a plain jane
vanilla girl, but i've been branching out...

ben &jerry's karamal sutra for me  :D

I prefer Handles ice cream as far as walk up and eat it type places.  My favorite from them on a hot day after a walk in the woods is Mint Chocolate Chip.

Not an ice-cream lover (never have been.)  My friend is totally addicted to Blue Bunny butter pecan.  I can take the pecans, but the ice-cream?-----n-o-o-!

OMG! I have heard of Edy's and if I wasn't at work, I'd run out of here to the nearest grocery store and find this elusive Girl Scout Thin Mint ice cream and eat it right there in the aisle.  Okay, maybe a little obsessive, but I've been on a diet forever and the thought of Edy's and Girl Scout Thin Mints together (at last!) has me all in a tizzy.

I'm a very picky person when it comes to food and ice cream is no exception. My idea of branching out and being adventurous is having a scoop of chocolate in a cup. I normally stick to a plain vanilla scoop in a delicious waffle cone from my local ice cream store every few weeks in the summer time.

Vanilla Bean.
The brand doesn't really matter to me.

Buckeye Blitz from Graeters in Columbus Ohio! If you are ever in Columbus try to find a Graeters

Hey Newbie recommending Graeters!

I love Graeter's black raspberry chip. My son and I go to the zoo at least twice a week through the summer and it is our ritual before heading over to Jungle Jack's Landing. They serve the ice cream in the single serving cups.

Just last week I served my son his first Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, telling him it was a very important part of American culture.LOL

Have you had Jeni's Ice Cream? I think it is located in the Short North, North Market and Dublin. I was only introduced to it recently. They use organic grassfed dairy and have amazing flavors like honey pistachio. I cut & pasted a few from the website.

Goat Cheese with Roasted Red Cherries
Blue Jacket Dairy goat cheese with roasted Michigan cherries—like a fluffy cherry cheesecake, but even better.

Wildberry Lavender
Complex. Intense lavender with hints of exotic spices and lots of brambly berry flavors.

Rich Russian Imperial Stout from Barley's and Stauf’s Kona coffee steeped in cream. Smooth. Perfect complement to dark gingerbread or rich chocolate cake.

Queen City Cayenne
Condensed milk chocolate "Cincinnati style" with cayenne and cinnamon!

Pistachio and Ashland County Honey
Toasted pistachios with Ashland County honey.

Thai Chili
Krema Peanut Butter (a Columbus company since 1898), with toasted coconut, cayenne and coconut milk.

Great Topic!

We took a tour of Europe WAY.................................back when I was in high school. At the street side carts they offered pistachio ice cream without the walnuts in it. I think it was in Italy. We loved it. When we came back to the States we looked all over for just pistachio without any nuts and could not find it. It was so delicious. Interesting how texture plays such a big part of the eating experience. It was much better without the nuts.

in europe  all the "ice cream is different than here.....

It's not as heavy...

and goes great with coffee (like an espresso)

I lived in Germany for 2 1/2 years and miss sitting on the canal, sipping espresso, and eating ice cream....

MMMMMmmmmmmm ice cream what a weakness I would have to say as far as the plain flavors strawberry, In my house we get the Neapolitan My husband likes the chocolate my kids the vanilla and me the strawberry. But for the more extravagant ice cream I love the snickers ice cream but hate snickers all by itself. However I am not much of an ice cream person over a sherbet person. I love the Rainbow sherbet for my favorite frozen treat.
