The parents of the two kids i am watching this summer bought her 7 yr. old son an iphone and her 3 yr. old a and ipad so they can play games on them. Now of course my 5 years wants one. There is no way. I have though decided to get her a LeapPad 2. Gently used if possible.

i think they are just setting themselves up --the kids will want unreal things for the rest of their child hood and think the parents should provide--children that age do not need iphones or ipads!!

Have to agree, kids that age do not and should not have things like iPads, There is no reason to have them that young. I love the kids who have smart phones and the parents pay the bill. Yes, it's a good idea for kids to have cell phones, and my kids did, but only a cell phone, no whistles or bells. They want one, then pay for it yourself. We paid for a regular phone for emergencies and security, but that was it!

That's crazy but let's face the facts-
they are using technology as a babysitter.

Or maybe they are letting their kids learn how to use tech so they have an advantage... My kids are very tech savvy and AI wouldn't have it any other way.

I agree being tech savy is great for kids these days; but, expensive gifts at that age can cause problems in the future! ;)

moderation in all things we will pay half if the kids can save up their half but then we also have time limits which are explained when they decide they do want the item and start saving then we take their half of the money and put it into a savings account for them

Running behind their kid in Wal Mart (kid being a holy terror) counting or saying 'don't make me tell you again'.
IF you were going to do anything your kid wouldn't be acting like that to start with. GRRRR

Allow their children to be rude to others and not correct them, I guess to each his/her own on how they raise their kids; rude kids tend to may rude adults!

not making their kids listen,,,that drives me crazy!!!!! :BangHead:
