My wisdom tooth's growing on the bottom right..
And it's weird. I find i'm starting to bite on the inside of my mouth now..
-
Sounds like it's time to get them removed. Now that is fun....for everyone who is around you! My sister was laughing at my reaction to the meds and the drool coming down the side of my face. Not sure what the point of wisdom teeth are in the first place, anyone know?
-
I haven't had any problems with mine, yet, but my sister is going to need her wisdom teeth removed soon.
-
LOL yeah. xD
-
mine just came in to they hurt a lot
-
They're molars for chewing. My question is when did our jaws start getting too small for all our teeth or are our teeth bigger than in times past? As long as I can remember people have been having to have them out. I had mine out in high school. My upper twelve year old molars were pulled so the wisdoms could come in and the lower ones were extracted in three pieces each, in a separate procedure. Yuch. :P
-
had 4 pulled and was glad to be sedated when they pulled them.
-
I only had 2 when I was finishing up college. I've heard that happens. I've also heard that some people's wisdom teeth don't appear until they are around 50. What a joke that would be if my wisdom other 2 teeth appeared then.
-
The same happens with me. For the past few years they slowly are growing. They are currently have under the skin and half out. It will hurt for a few days and then good for months and then the cycle repeats. They are almost out completely now.
-
That happened to me. My top right and bottom right grew out and they were biting the inside of my mouth.
I had to get at least the top out (i can't afford to get the rest out) and it feels better.
It gave me a hard time eating and opening my mouth because of it.
Get yours removed.
-
I had all four of mine removed when I was 16. I was scared, so I told them to knock me out! Lol
-
I still have mine
-
I had my four ones until my early 60's. Now, two are gone. It was too crowded back there.
-
I've had three of them coming in bit by bit over the past few years. 2 months ago was some of the worst pain I experienced with it. My right cheek got all swollen and sore. Had to ice it and swish with salt water. But it only lasted a few days at least. Hang in there :)
-
I never had any wisdom teeth....was missing 2 of my 12 yr. old molars as well, so they took the other 2 out so I only have 1 set of molars!

I never had to have my wisdom teeth taken out
-
Yeah.. it doesn't hurt though. I can just feel its "PRESENCE" xD

Ah the wisdom tooth. I have a bad wisdom tooth on the upper right. It is loose and needs to come out. I actually have an infection. I went to the dentist and I have to take anti-botics to remove the infection before he pulls it out. I will be happy to get rid of it. But in the meantime, the pain is bad.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out in the eighties because they were impacted. I was a senior in high school and so I didn't have to miss much time from school, my mom had them done the day Christmas break was to start. Let's just say that was not a fun two weeks.
-
I am 45 years old and mine have never come out, my Dental X-rays still show them nice an cozy inside the gum, but if they decide that itis time for them to show their faces they will need to come out because they are twisted and will push every other tooth out of place. My oldest daughter had to have them removed, after orthodontics because she had no space for them. My youngest also needs them remove because of the same issue, she already lost 2 molars for spacing and they told me that as soon as she turns around 16 or so to start thinking about having them remove.
On the other hand, my husband's came out at around 18 and lately started to bother him, the dentist says they were getting black and he ended up having them remove anyways. I hear that they really have no other function that to be a pain.
-
ouch that must be so sore i had mine out along time a go but my daughter going thu her right now
-
I had to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was in my late teens!!! They were coming in all sorts of ways except the right way!!!! lol
-
I had all mine taken out at one time in the hospital and low and behold had buttons show up in later years and had to have them taken out also. Although is have been told a time a too i had a big mouth. But when it cam to my mouth not near enough room for all of my teeth also had some molars taken out. It was not a fun summer for me.
-
My wisdom teeth didn't bother me at all. So I guess left it alone will be fine.

Two things you should worry about when having wisdom teeth extraction.... One is dry sockets and the other is sinuses.... If you have wisdom teeth at the bottom you are more likely to get dry socket (impacted.... still low chance but higher than the top wisdom teeth)....If you have wisdom teeth at top your chances of dry sockets are low but it's right next to your sinuses so if your aren't careful then it open you sinus cavity (Like me, when I breathe though my nose I could feel air passing through my mouth... Getting it sorted out by Oral surgeon tomorrow hopefully it isn't to bad.... Might need an OAF surgery or hopefully it heals itself)... I was too worried about dry sockets and I wasn't aware sinuses could be an issue so I f up.... Damn bleeding nose
Things to do when having wisdom teeth:
Make sure surgeon is available most of the time (my surgeon only comes 2 weeks every Wednesday T_T)
Always follow post op procedures and have proper hygiene... (Salt water rinse/gargle, no spitting, no heavy exercise, no smoking, don't disturb the blood clot by touching it)
Have several cold packs to reduce swelling the first day (only the first day)
Stock up on liquid foods for a week (Ice Cream, Apple Sauce, Nutrition Drink like Ensure, Yogurt, and V8... make sure it's not tomato base it will burn of course)
Always take antibiotics.... Painkillers you can skip if you don't feel pain (usually 4 days after but defiantly 2-3 days... well at least for me)
Ask surgeon for a irrigation syringe (helps you clean out food particles out of sockets... only use after a week and when you eat solid foods).. or you can buy it online
Don't blow nose or sneeze with your mouth close for 2 weeks... It could mess up your sinuses
You should always extract your wisdom teeth when you are young... If you wait, wisdom teeth could cause future mishaps... Also your wisdom teeth root may grow up to your sinuses.. Which could cause an opening... (I wish I was lucky, 20 years old but still got my nasal cavity messed up)
Have things to do, stock up on movies, video games, something to keep you occupied.
Have a extra pillow to prop head and also a blanket to soak up any drool at night (no gauze pads at night you will suffocate)
Things to note
When you look at your wisdom teeth area after extraction (about a week) you will see a hole... Don't worry if you don't see clot (as long as it's a week and you don't feel any pain radiating your ear then you are in healing process).. White stuff near hole is also fine (it could also be food particle or cyst... if it doesn't hurt after a few day then it's not). They are granulate tissue which your gum closes out hole...
Try doing wisdom teeth extraction in summer... Because fall or spring is cold/allergy season... Plus some summer there is humidity so you won't have dry nostrils.
I don't know when gums fully heal (impacted case)... Some say 2-3 weeks following extraction or 2-3 months.... I do know that wisdom teeth extraction fully heals by 6 months or more (depending how fast you heal)... Since the bone takes awhile to form
Always call dentist or surgeon if you believe you have a problem... don't wait and ask for their opinion.... Usually when you have a problem (like infection) you have bad breath, pus, pain that doesn't get better, etc)..
Wisdom teeth extraction usually takes a week to heal (little or no chance for dry socket)
Gums heal 2-3 weeks/months (meaning hole is not present)
Fully heal after 6 months when a new bone goes under your gum
Sinuses may heal up 2-3 weeks after extraction
Good luck to anyone who has wisdom teeth extraction, hopefully it wasn't a stressful episode (unlike mines)

I have to get mine pulled :sad1:
-
I still have my mine. My daughter needs to get hers taken out.
-
Go ahead and get them removed! If you're biting down on the sides on your mouth, there isn't enough room for them. Trust me, take them out before it becomes a problem. I developed a very small cyst in my gums where a wisdom tooth bumped up against my back molar and it was like torture.
Removal isn't as scary as it's hyped up to be. Just keep a large bag of frozen vegetables across your face for the rest of that day and eat half melted ice cream for a while! lol
-
If yours aren't impacted, then consider yourself lucky! All four of mine were impacted. I had to be knocked out to remove them. :(
-
I had mine removed one at a time. If I had it to do over I would have done all four at once. I made sure my kids did all four at once and got it over with. It was much better in the long run.
-
Hope you don't need it out, they can be a pain if you do need them pulled.
-
I don't actually know what I'm planning to do with them.
-
I have broken my nose (four times), wrist, big toes(at least six times on each) and two ribs. Seven months of my life was spent in a leg cast for a broken foot. I have dislocated my shoulder and two thumbs. My leg has had over one hundred and eighty stitches. I have been knocked unconscious several times. I have rolled my ankles more then I would care to remember. Wisdom teeth extraction, by far, was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life! Six hours of surgery and I came to during the middle of it as the dentist was chiseling away at one of my wisdom teeth. Not to scare you but make sure they knock you out for a long enough period!
-
I got my wisdom teeth in several years ago. It was very painful and I was very glad when they finished coming in. I like the OP, would consistently bite the inside of my mouth at times and it would bleed on occasion.
I was told by the dentist that these teeth are more difficult to clean and have found that to be true. If I was able to I would get them removed, because they really serve no purpose for me at this point since I have all of my other teeth.
-
Get that baby pulled!
-
I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. They knocked me out and woke me up when they were done. That's the way to go.
-
I agree! My son did it that way, so much easier than the way I did it. I did it one at a time, don't recommend it.
-
Wisdom teeth don't have any purpose - they are just extra teeth that have a tendency to knock the other teeth out of position. I joined the Military in 1971 and still remember the doctor telling me that there were no purpose whatsoever for wisdom teeth and then he removed 4 of them - all at once.
-
Just have a good dentist in mind just in case :)
-
I still have all 4 of mine. It's not always necessary to have them taken out at all.
-
i know that feeling but, once they grow in they shape your teeth and they should be pulled. they are really not needed anymore.
-
LOL yeah. I have this empty space and then my back moler. AND THEN.. the wisdom tooth that's growing in.
Which is why i've been thinking about keeping it. xD
