Title: Should I try Craigslist?
Post by: home_teachin on June 14, 2009, 05:39:57 pm
I'm trying to sell a set of Karate gear that is too small for my son, so I can get him a set that fits. They aren't selling on ebay and I wonder if I should try Craigslist? I have never listed anything there before. If I only accept Paypal or a Postal Money Order, is there any way I can get ripped off? Has anyone here ever sold on Craigslist?

I've sold lots of stuff on craigslist. I don't ever have anyone come to my house, though. I meet them at a public place like Walmart parking lot.  I only accept PayPal and postal money orders too and I've never had a problem...........so far.

Thanks, I would probably be mailing the gear anyway, since we live in the middle of nowhere.

i've heard lots of good things about selling on craig's...

i've only had experience buying, and i only scored
one time, out of about five  >:(  people sell things
right under your nose! even after you've emailed
back &forth a few times about it...

the one item i did purchase, was local, and i picked it up
and payed in person.

there just doesn't seem to be a lot of rules with craig's list.
no seller status or anything. but, its worth a shot.
especially if you're not losing anything, you know?

  I found my dog on craigs list. I love her very much. She was a free pup, and she is now my best friend. I went to the owners house, and everything was fine.

don't respond to those that tell you they will send you a money order after you provide them with all of xxxx information. make direct contact only, by phone. if you have to do it from a distance- use paypal or make sure their money order is cashed before shipping. anytime we list things, we always get these requests...they all look the same. most people are honest but, beware of crooks.

I have sold and bought several items off of craigslist. I just had a set of twins and I have found it to be a great place to get the high dollar baby items for a reasonable cost.

My daughter listed a Chevy truck on craigslist and sold it within about three hours of the listing for cash. Sale went smooth and she had more offers than she could keep up with. Finally she told everyone that the first person to show up with the cash, the truck would be theirs. I highly recommend craigslist for selling items just laying around that you do not use.

I have had a good response with that site as well, it is great place to advertise when you are having a yard sale or are trying to get rid of a few items.....just be careful as in anyplace there are ALWAYS a few bad apples among the bunch (people). One can never be too carefull
