I couldn't believe it somebody has given me a fake five dollar bill. I didn't know it was fake it looked soooo real and felt real but when I went to use it in a change machine it didn't work so I put it away and then went to use it at an automated metrocard dispenser and the machine would not take it so I went to the token booth to get help the clerk told me that the bill was a fake I couldn't believe that this has happened to me so I go to the store that I had got the bill from that morning and told them what happened and the man gladly exchanged the bill for me. Has this happened to you were you ever given funny money and what would you do?
-
I would still alert the police about the store doing that - who knows, they might be actually running a counterfit operation............it does happen. And they are trying to dump the fake money on good people that could end up getting into trouble THEMSELVES........just a thought

Sometimes it is also came from other costumers paying fake money .

Exactly. Just because you get the funny money from a store, doesn't mean that the store is the reason you got it. It could have come in through another customer, and you just happened to get it by some kind of freak accident.

I have not yet, but it getting to the point that that everyone should watch their money..

Once i went to the store getting ready to paid and the lady said this is a fake 20 i was so scared so i just left

I'm glad the store exchanged the bill for you - it's really tough to get stuck with a fake bill and suddenly realize you can't do anything with it!
I've been lucky not to get any - so far....

When I was in high school working at a convenient store we would see them all the time. Trying to pass them by a kid working at a job they couldn't care less about is the easiest method to spending them.

You're *supposed* to report all fake bills to the police... but that might leave you out 5 bucks, because I don't think they compensate. So I hope the store owner reported it ;p

Yes, I got a billion dollar bill in the mail LOL :icon_rr:

I've never received fake paper money, but I have found fake quarters in rolls received from the bank. Only happened twice (two different banks), but it was surprising all the same. This was before they started using the clear coin rolls though, so I guess that was a smart move since I haven't received a fake since.

i have never heard abt this b4 even. :dontknow:

I have gotten a billion dollar bill at a Subway once. Some church group was handing them out.

I used to work in retail and I came across a few fake bills in my time. The strangest one was a fake $10 bill right after the new, color $10 was released. I got into the habit of marking every bill over $1 with the counterfeit pen, which was kinda annoying.
-
The best thing to do if you come across a counterfeit bill is to immediately report it to the right channel of authority and allow them to take care of it. Giving it back to the place where you originally recieved it is not a good idea, as it is possible they are the source of the counterfeiting operation.

I remeber getting fake money from my band director when I was in the sixth grade. He took a $1 bill and put his picture on the front of it. We would earn money if we played our instruments good, had good behavior, answered music questions right, and done well on playing and written quizes. We would use the money to purchase items or earn a party from our band director.
