What would you rather do? Watch a movie or read a book?
-
I won't lie, I'd rather watch a movie. Even though I can rarely stay awake for a whole one. I love to read though.
-
Really depends on which movie, and which book. Also what mood you are in influences the choice.
-
I would rather have a good book.
-
yes a comicbook nerd but hey batman is sexy :angel12:
-
Well, I must be a nerd because I would rather read a book any day... I to like an occasional movie however, from the library books and movies are FREE...
-
I'm more of a movie person but I love a good book, I'm just picky about what I read. I should be picky about what I watch because I watch a lot of dumb movies ::).
-
I love to read a good book, but I also love watching a really good movie. ;D
However, in my opinion, there aren't too many good movies anymore. ::)
It's quite fun watching a movie that is made from a novel you enjoyed reading :star:, or watching a movie that has one of your favorite actors/actresses in it.

watch a movie but i still read books!!!! noyt many tho hard to be interested in them. "jillian" :male: :cat:
-
BTW, why would watching a movie instead of reading a book make you a nerd? ??? That doesn't match the connotation I have for nerd.
:fish:

i rather watch a movie because i dont like to read that much, i guess that conisders me cool, but to tell the truth i dont have much of a social life
-
I do allot of both as well as gaming. I think I am more of a geek lol !
-
I used to watch a lot of movies but very seldom watch them anymore. I would probably just fall asleep before it was over. I guess I am really a nerd since I love to read good books.

I would rather read a book. A book goes into so much more detail than a movie ever can. It really gets your imagination going.

Watch a movie. 100%

:) Read a book. You learn a lot more and it is way cheaper.
-
indeed ive read some books.
-
Yup. And I'm proud of it.
-
I rather just do both
-
Movies because books take to much time. I like to read but I just don't have the time to read as often as I like. Books take days of time and movies take
around 2 hours. :peace:

no i never became anything just blended in. i wish i had developed a personatily

I do not consider myself a nerd, but actually I wish I was a nerd. Since the technology age is upon us, I do not want to get left behind.

I too would rather consider myself to be a techno-geek rather than a nerd... To me, a nerd is more anti-social (doesn't want to go out in public, etc.) whereas a geek is just more into cerebral interests that may be considered to be introverted (eg reading, gaming, etc.) but still isn't fearful of social interests. For example in the Big Bang Theory, I tend to think of Sheldon as a true nerd whereas Leonard is more of a geek.
As for the OP's question about reading vs. a movie, I too don't think this really distinguishes between a nerd and a non-nerd as some Star Wars fans would argue that the original movies (Episodes 4-6) are still the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe and that the books are just wannabes.
For me, I don't really have a preference between a good movie and a good book (maybe I'd lean towards a book mostly since my enjoyment in reading would last longer than my enjoyment from a movie)... However books tend to do a better job at really getting into the motives of each of the characters in ways that is difficult for a movie to do (very few movies have an actual narrator that can speak to what a character is thinking about at any given time). Then again because movies are relatively short, they also tend to be more intense and fast-paced than a book. For example, I actually enjoyed the movie version of Jurassic Park than I did the book, even though I was studying molecular biology at the time and easy understood the scientific premise of the story that the book spent more time talking about. Sometimes books can get too long-winded trying to describe a scene and set the mood while a movie can achieve the same thing in less than a minute (as in "a picture can say a thousand words").
Actually I seem to be liking television series more than I do movies... TV still is able to have many of the special effects that movies have, yet because they can tell a story over a longer period of time than a movie can, the characters, plots, etc. all tend to be better fleshed out in the TV shows. For example, even though I love the books the best, I'm glad that the Game of Thrones series appears on TV rather than them trying to reduce it into a movie.

Both.... read a book sometime give me ability to imagine the picture, the image.
While on the movie, i love the picture itself.

Reading a book always tops my list. Some people just don't read which is kind of like not breathing, but, then, I am a librarian. Just finished a new CJ Box book and the latest VI Warshawski mystery. Big Girl Panties is also a fun read. Nerds rule.
-
Another thought. I usually read the book then watch the movie and compare. A good example is the Stephanie plum mystery - One for the Money. The movie was good but I was disappointed in the actor for Ranger. Ranger was way sexier in my mind. Anyone else

I'd rather watch the movie. I can't refuse a good book though!
