I would say if it's too cold in your house, tell your husband that it is too cold for your bones and body to handle it. He will understand. I was born and raised in the islands of Samoa and we don't have the 4 seasons. It is all sunny and rainy sometimes. But here if my house feels cold, I wouldn't hesitate to start the fire place or heat up the house immediately!

he wouldnt take my word about being hot because i suffer severely from hot flashes, night sweats

It depends on what the temperate outside is really. I mean, if it were snowing outside in the middle of July, would you stop your husband from using it then? Honestly, as long as you aren't doing things like using the stove and then opening all the windows, use it whenever you want. If you're dealing with the dreaded, one of you is cold and the other one is hot though, then it's just one of those things where someone needs to go get some thicker pants and the other needs to get some shorts.

I have a small electric heater that I use on cooler days; just long enough to take the chill off the house in the mornings. Hate to turn on the furnace too soon because the gas is so expensive! ;)

In my state it is cold at night and warmer during the day.

I have to go back to the day of August 29, 2013 I think it was. I was about to go out for a back to school night. It was about 4 or 5 pm and all of a sudden the rain came down and then lighting strike on my neighbors house (roof) and it caught fire but the rain did not put it out. It was on a power line and everybody for some blocks lights were gone for about 4 hours. The rain came down so hard I had to move my car so it would not be flooded. That is how high the water was. This lasted for about 6 hours before the rain stopped and we have not had rain since. Strange day here in Riverside Ca. Our safety kit helped us, the candles and the flashlights etc. Good thing Mommy was smart for me and my son. My son did not even panic we moved along like a emergency situation and he handled it like a big boy. :) :) :) :)

Oh, I am so jealous of you! I used to live in Annapolis and I know so well how absolutely beautiful that part of the country is! But, yes, being between the two waters, light that stove up! Well, good luck to you and take care.

If it's cold it's never too soon to use the wood stove. We had ours running during the last cold spell at night. I love the smell of a wood fire. It really makes me think fall.
-
use it when you need it. Just like the ac. Hook it up when you want

Although I like that it's not hot anymore I hate the fact that whenever the weather changes my boys get sick, ugh.I like fireplace days!
-
My bedroom is in the basement and it is freezing year round. I slept with an electric blanket all summer!
Go ahead and use it!

Yes its getting around that time. I hope it doesn't get to cold until winter I would like to have a normal fall.
-
I like the cool weather.
Love to have the windows open.

i like windows open but my husband likes to scorch with the wood stove

While it is fall, it has gotten colder. In fact, it was so cold last night, my brother in-law complained, but was wearing a T-shirt :o :o :o. My hubby turned on the heat last night. It was cold this morning too. The sun is shining and it will be chilly tonight. We have to go to the pastor's anniversary so when we return, it will be cold. :o :o :o

yes here in md they said tonight going to be coldest night yet

We use the stove too this time of year when to try to hold off on the larger heat charges. If you desire to use the stove I see nothing wrong with that as it can knock the chill off of your house. We turn it on 325-350 and partially open the door so that the heat will be pointing up as heat rises anyway. We leave it on with all the doors open (except for the basement door) and after the chill is knocked off. Once it gets just way too cold we turn on the heat.
-
yes we have already started burning our wood stove
-
the weather keeps changing here
