Post by: aggie49 on October 04, 2013, 02:16:54 pm
i decorate and get candy for the kids in the neighborhood but it isn't like when i was kid last year i had maybe 10 kids come to my door i think it is a shame that you have to worry about what your kids or getting in their bags

No, but not out of having anything against it. I don't have kids or get any trick or treaters where I live. I also don't go to costume parties or know anyone who throws them, so need for getting into costumes. It is just sort of a non event for me.

I do so by turning on the sprinklers and chaining a few pit-bulls near the doors  ;D

Seriously though, there are very few kids doing the door to door treating and tricking now, most seem to have parties to attend, so we hand out a few things but really don't dress the place up or anything like that.

I didn't like Halloween much as a  child, nor adult.  I have some negative associations with it.  I don't mind giving out candy to the few who come anymore, which seems to be less each year.  Unfortunately, kids don't need all the sugar.  And parents often consume more than they should.. :)

That's my Birthday, so I have always loved Halloween. I don't decorate like I used to nor hand out candy since we have to trick or treaters where we live, I miss that part.

I am a Christian and cannot celebrate Halloween for any reason.  It is the biggest holiday on the Satanic calendar.

I celebrate by eating candy and watching some movies. I always watch The Great Pumpkin and whatever scary movies I'm in the mood for. I do miss getting in costume though.

Yes we celebrate. My son enjoys dressing up and going to a few doors before we head to the carnival and this year The church down the way is teaming up with the firefighters and doing something for the kids. Should be nice. :)

I do not do anything for Halloween. Someone in my family might buy candy for kids if they knock on the door, and that is it.

Since we don't even have any neighborhood children coming to the door any more we just don't bother decorating or doing any celebrating. Halloween has changed so much over the years!!

Oh my!  We have bought the most fabulous giant spider which has a sensor on it. If you walk close by or even make a noise, the spider, which is at least 18 inches wide, jumps two feet out.  I watched this in the store and made it jump many times, every time I jumped out my skin. It made me feel a bit nauceous. I'm a little worried for any small children that might be trick or treating this year - especially if they are an arachnophobe! :angry7: :dontknow:

Since I have moved to a very rural area and I am 1/4 mile from a sparsely settled road, I no longer get any children and my grandchildren have outgrown Halloween.

You are  right.   You really have to know who you are getting candy from, and sometimes that doesn't help. I don't celebrate because all my kids are grown.   That Month is busy at the store  and I get home very late.

We love Halloween.  House is decorated now.  Lights go on when the sun goes down.   We usually have around 500 kids for beggers nite,,,  love to see the

little ones all dressed up.  Sometimes the bigger kids will have good costumes also.  They just want candy,,,,,  but they  have to have  at least their face painted to

get candy from me  lol

Can't wait for Begger Nite !!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't celebrate Halloween.  I went by this one church and on there bulletin board that they couldn't celebrate Halloween because it is Sunday and its a pagan holiday, but we will celebrate on Saturday and have some fun things to do for the children.  Does that make sense pagan means evil or belonging to Satan so why celebrate it at all?

I don't celebrate Halloween anymore because the kids think a gate in front of my house is actually a fence they can't go through, so they don't even stop. I always have a nice big box of huge candy bars from Costco ready for them, but never get to pass them out to the kids.  :dontknow:
