I agree.  Even if you have insurance, the bills are unbelievable.  Then they have the nerve to send you an itemized bill to explain why it is so expensive.  However, they need to explain how they can charge 40 for aspirin!  It is ridiculous!!!!

A long time ago, when I injured my wrist, the total bill was like $6000 for surgery and other stuff. It's ridiculous what some people do making money. It cost like $200 for some woman to poke my fingers (with sharp NAILS) just to see if I had any sensation in my hand at all. I doubt it was a professional test , and I doubt she was even a doctor, she was dressed like a Hooters waitress. I still kind of laugh about that. But $200? When I could have just bitten myself or something? Ridiculous. And one of the surgeons insisted on charging $3000 when the others were happy with $500 or so. Ironic that he was a plastic surgeon and yet made no effort whatsoever to reduce the size of the scar now on my wrist. Also, the anesthesia was like $700. The local anesthetic wouldn't have cost much at all, but they felt they had to put me under for stitches. ???????????????
I never got an actual doctor's bill, but United Concordia sent me the records so that I could understand that they were NOT happy with paying for all that crap. I almost feel sorry for them, seeing as they're free.
