Title: Home Alone vs Christmas Story
Post by: mrbizzard on November 18, 2013, 01:28:00 pm
Both movies are classic Christmas movies, that many people may enjoy watching. Which one is your favorite? (I am referring to the first Home Alone movie) Why do you enjoy watching this movie over the other?

I am a kid at heart and like to watch both of them. Some of the shows they have now are not worth watching.

Thats a tough one. home alone is funny but I would have to go with Christmas story. The family reminds me of mine in some ways and it makes me laugh to the corkyness of my family to relateable child hood memories.

I would choose Christmas Story. I love that classic. Not really a home alone fan.  :turkey:

I prefer Christmas Story! There are just too many one-liners that I will never forget. You'll shoot you eye out" is my favorite. I know a couple who collect Christmas ornaments from that movie. The leg lamp is the best! What fun to look forward to each year.

:) I personally like "A Christmas Story". Sticks to the theme of Christmas and the reason we celebrate it.  :present:

For me it's no contest - "A Christmas Story" all the way.  "Home Alone" was okay, but I personally didn't find it all that funny.

I can relate much better to "A Christmas Story" even though the time setting was a little before my time.  I remember the pain of bundling up in those snowmobile suits, trying to get them on in time so I didn't miss the bus home.  The bullies, the dares.  The simple wonderment of the season - back when the Christmas holiday seemed like a special holiday event (today it's gotten way to commercialized and predictable - particularly now that stores are rolling everything out the day after Halloween!).

The imagining clips are priceless.  And, as a Packer fan, I always chuckle as the "Chicago Chipmunks" line in the movie.  :D

I like Home Alone for the beautiful outside Christmas scenes - not so much for the content or the story. I do prefer Christmas Story because it's so funny. You can't help but laugh. :D

It's been so long since I've seen Christmas Story that I really don't remember much about it.  I like Home Alone very much.

Home alone was a great and really reminds me of my childhood, not that I could relate to the story outside of the extended family's influence on my reputation as an individual...but a Christmas story is too funny not to exalt...its just the standard for Christmas featured...I like that movie a lot.

I enjoyed both movies.  I thought Christmas Story was the better.  Oh, Jack Nicholson turned down a good role I beat he could kick himself for not excepting it.

Personally, I find the Christmas Story very annoying. But I love Home Alone!
My husband wants to watch Bad Santa every year together as a tradition. We will probably watch something fun with the kids every year though

I love Christmas movies period. I love the Home Alone series because they are so funny. I love the Christmas story because it shows the softer side of Christmas. However, there are many other excellent Christmas movies out there besides these. Miracle on 34th Street, It's a wonderful life, I'll be home for Christmas, The Santa Clause series, Santa Buddies, Santa Paws and etc. etc.

A Christmas Story is my favorite holiday movie of all time.  Ralphie and his mother remind me a lot of me and my mom, including her fear of BB guns.

Home Alone, definitely Home Alone. It's a really cool movie, a bit different than how most Christmas movies tend to go. And the main character is a young kid getting the best of some burglars in a fun (and funny) way.
