I come from a large family and someone is always spreading misinformation. does your family participate in family gossip or rumors?

I think there usually is one person in everyone's family like that.  I have an aunt who has to tell all the other family members everything she either heard, saw, or thought she saw about another family member (always the one who is not there at that moment ).  Over the course of the years we all just ignore what she says.

I don't have this problem with my family as we are not that big on gossip.  But, the small community in which I live does a lot of gossiping.  Everybody seems to know everybody's business.  Too many gossiping in this small town!  I guess folks have nothing else better to do!

We have our own set of problems but rumors or gossiping about each other is not a part of them.

I live in West Point, MS.  When I left here at the age of 19, it was nicknamed "Rumor Central".  I have been here for 7 and a half years, and it is still nicknamed "Rumor Central", but the rumors are more cutthroat.  My husband is the biggest gossiper there is.  I told him one day that all he does is get on his cellphone and gossip.  I have a sister that cannot hold hot water because she tells everything to her husband, whether it is his business or not.  You may think I am joking (I am serious as a heart attack), but you can tell someone something and, by the time it gets back to you, it is so mumbled-jumbled you would not recognize it!  People had it rumored when I was 16 that I had been killed, and the only surprise was that, when a lady called to give her condolences to my grandmother, I actually answered the phone. ??? ??? ???

Yes. You can't control what other people say, but you can limit your exposure and time with those people who behave like this. :D
