Title: cake, anyone?

if we've ever had a thread about cake,
our favorite types, i'm not recalling it ;p
and i clearly think we should talk about cake.. don't you?
i baked this one last night ^_^ because funfetti is MY favorite.

i never think to bake when i come visit.
we shall put that on the list for next time...

funfetti is one of my absolute faves, but i also
adore cheesecake! although, its more like a pie

LOVE funfetti cake!  but you didnt use the funfetti frosting!   :dontknow:

cheesecake is good. and it counts for this thread, since CAKE is in the name ;p can't really argue with that. i prefer mine with blueberries on top<333.

i know! and funfetti cakes are way better with funfetti frosting, duhhh :(
but the thing is that i somehow ended up with an extra box of cake mix at the back of my cabinet, and only had vanilla frosting.. and i wasn't in the mood to wait around until i went back out to the store and purchased the funfetti.. so i took what i had and made it blue. and added the sprinkles ;p not quite as great, but it worked ;p

not too big on pies, myself.
i like blueberry and apple pie ;p
or any type of pie involving chocolate of some sort (i don't even like chocolate that much in general, though, weird ;p)

thats cute!
i make a killer carrot cake with actual carrot, walnuts and coconut. i think its pretty much the best thing that has ever been in my mouth but it takes forever to grade a cup of carrot so i dont make it very often, and the kind that already comes in little pieces just doesnt taste the same

mmmm now i want cake..

chocolate cream cheese frosting sounds amazing ;p although i'm not much of a fan of chocolate cake. and i mostly use boxed mixes because i have very few cake recipes :/ i would probably do them from scratch much more often otherwise.

we have a family carrot cake recipe that has been passed down for years ;p no coconut in it though.. and i have to agree, carrots are pretty stubborn when you want to grate them :/

Very nice cake discardedheart. I also enjoy carrot cake minus the coconut prefer nuts and raisins. But what I really enjoy that's finger licking gooood is a chocolate cake with morsels and all that goooood stuff toped with chocolate icing. :)  :P  :thumbsup:

My grandma makes a really good carrot cake with pineapple in it. However, I did win a gold medal for making a german chocolate cake, all by scratch when I was in the 5th grade when I was in 4H. I don't really have a favorite, I like them all!

when it comes to cake, i think any kind is good kind! :)  but my absolute favorite is black forrest cake. moist chocolate cake, thick cherry filling, and sweet whipped cream; what's not to love? i love it so much that i made my wedding cake a 3 tiered black forrest cake  :D

mmmm good post we did need a post on cake. I love decorating cakes cheesecake is the best kind ever with strawberries on top. i love the food network challenges with cakes. But they look to good to eat but would be willing to try  :angel12:

Aren't they just amazing? :o It is crazy how they turn a blank canvas of cake into those amazing things of art. I really don't watch the other challenges just the cakes. I actually found out the other day the mostly do those in COLORADO and that is the state I live in so I am going to see what I can do to get tickets to go!!!

I am not a big cake person, but those two pics look delish.  I am a chocoholic, so that one really looks good.  I used to bake from scratch when I was a kid, haven't done it in a while.  I will have to start again.

yesss! i would love to be able to do that. my sister and i are planning to take some wilton cake decorating classes this fall - i'm hella excited about it. i'm hoping to catch on pretty easily - although i won't be able to do anything as awesome as THAT ;p

getting tickets to actually go SEE a cake challenge would be completely amazing O_o i'll cross my fingers for you ;p

why, thank you!
the blue color wasn't hard to achieve. just used plain ol' blue food coloring - i DID put in a couple drops of red.. it helped to deepen the color a bit. but ONLY a couple drops.. too much would've just turned it greyish purple and that wasn't what i was looking for, haha ;p

I ate the BEST coconut cream pie this afternoon.... i know it isnt cake, but it must be told, lol! Very good.  :notworthy:

you know, i had my FIRST piece of coconut cream pie the other day!
like my first piece EVER. and it was pretty much awesome<3. haha.

Thanks :D I worked in a bakery for a long time until I got too sick to do it any more. I actually got my "Cupcake" nickname from working there. I made 930 Valentines cupcakes one year which earned me the nickname "Cupcake" at work which my boyfriend turned into his "Cuppycake" lol!
