Post by: melodylogan45 on January 11, 2014, 04:17:04 am
When was the last time you went to the dentist, due to financial issues
It has been awhile for me. Even with insurance it's expensive. ??? ::) :-X

I was there the day after Christmas! I had to have a tooth extraction and 3 fillings. This is what happens when you wait TOO long!  :( I too was stressed with the financial end of it, but as soon as you get some money together, please go! Make an appointment when you get your tax refund.  ;D Hope all goes well.

I went to the dentist just two weeks ago. I had to have a lot of expensive work done, like a new crown and other work. It was very expensive. Even though I have dental insurance, I still had to pay a lot. I sympathize with you. Maybe you could work out a deal with your dentist whereby you only pay a certain amount every month until you are paid up.

I didn't go for a long time and then when I went back I had to get a lot of work done that was expensive and painful. Not I go every six months.

A little over a year I have a tooth that had a rootcanal and now it is a broken tooth doesn't hurt but even with insurance a crown will cost 300-400.00 .

When I worked I had dental insurance and went every 6 months.  Now I don't have dental insurance so I can't afford to go as often as I would like to.

It has been awhile for me also.  I have dental insurance that pays for 2 cleanings a year, but everytime I go to the dentist he finds something wrong that ends of costing me a lot of money.

I go to the Dentist twice a year and have done so all of my life. I'm now 45 but I didn't have my first cavity until I was 27. Even if you can't afford to go to the dentist, you can still brush twice a day and floss. Perhaps you could ask the Dentist whether they have any kind of payment plan before starting treatment. I agree with your other responder, you should go as soon as you are able because what is a cavity today, could turn into an extraction tomorrow. If you don't ask, you'll never know. I am surprised at the charity of some people sometimes.

I am fortunate because there is a dental school close to me.  I get my teeth cleaned every six months free.

So they do a good job for you at the school.

It's been many, many years since I've been at the dentist.  And it's not really because of the financial obligations, although it can be very expensive.  I just don't like to go.

hmmmm... Usually dental students still charge at the college even though it's really cheap.... And you have to call and make sure you call make an appointment during the beginning of the fall semester!

oh yeah... And they don't do fillings either at the college... Dental students are not allowed to do any other work.... Only cleanings so it is not worth it
