Iron sharpens iron,
So one man sharpens another.
When I think of "sharpening iron," I think of the stone one uses to sharpen one's knife. But that is not what Proverbs means here. Sharpening iron with an equally-massed iron, both the former and the latter irons are changed as explained in comments on this blog (http://betterbibles.com/2008/01/24/how-does-iron-sharpen-iron-2/).
Most comfy-Christians think it means "Sharpen your friends by hammering-away on them with the Bible-truth," but I disagree. The Bible (or more-exactly 'belief in the Bible') is the 'rock' you sharpen your iron upon. Christians 'sharpen iron with iron' in using their Bible-teachings on real-world matters.
