Title: Over Priced Movies
Post by: aharr1 on February 12, 2014, 07:27:43 pm
Who agrees that it is way to expensive to go to the movies these days tickets are pushing $10 and if you want a pop and a drink its like another 13!

I don't know what theater you go to but Tickets to my theater are $5-6 here in texas.. If i want to go to a nicer theater say.. west 7th.. it will be about $7-8 a person.. Sometimes if you go on holidays they will give you half price tickets like the last time i went on new year's i got in for $4 a person! The drinks depending on the size.. i usually get the large for $2 because you get free refills i don't really get the candy or anything.. but i do agree sometimes it can get expensive.. but they have to run their buisness just like anyone else.. I pay for a small popcorn sometimes if i go to west 7th i almost always get the sundae.. Which is about $4 by itself.. I don't think it's to much because i save back for movies when i want to go..So it's specifically designed for that occasion. I try to keep a open mind on places of buisness like the movies because they put up with alot just like any other buisness and they deserve a break.. Think of it this way.. If they don't make money.. You don't watch movies...

Yes I agree !!! Its so expensive !!! I have a local theatre that plays a little older movies but not that much older few months after other theatres and its a buck or two and even their popcorn and stuff is reasonable !!! I am so happy to have that place I dont mind waiting to see most movies to save a ton of money !!!

I've never paid that much to see a movie. There used to a be a local theater that only charged $4.50 for adult tickets and had half priced on Tuesdays. It closed because it couldn't afford to keep until with all the upgrading

I always take my own drink and snack in with me so I don't have to pay the outrageous prices

Our local theater the tickets were $10 to $15.  If  you got a drink and popcorn it was another $20.  They eventually had to shut down.  They make a killing on drinks and popcorn $6 and up for a flippin cup of cola that is mostly ice is crazy.  Nobody should ever buy them.  Then they would lower the prices.

There are a ton of other ways to watch movies.  Just wait a few months and its out on Dvd.

Way too expensive to try to take a family to the movies, I always carried a large purse and stuck snacks and cans of pop in it because by the time we paid for the movie tickets I didn't another 25 to spend on pop and popcorn and candy, the kids always seemed to enjoy the surprises coming out of my bag!

my theaters have a loyalty card that you earn points for ticket purchases. they are redeemable for snacks. they also have different ticket prices for different times of the afternoon or evening. We always go between 4 pm and 6 pm, it is the cheapest time for $6. about every 5th movie, we have enough points to redeem for pop and popcorn. the card also gets you a discount at the snack counter for regular purchases. We always plan a head for when we want to go see a movie so we have the money set aside for that purpose. It usually is our date night.

The movie has to be really a good one for me to pay $10.00. If not I will just wait for the dvd to come out.

Yeah, they are very expensive. The price of On Demand (cable) movies increased too. They used to be $4 to rent a movie, now it's $5 and if you what to watch it in HD it's $6.  >:(

Yes it is I haven't been in a movie theater in years because it's ridiculous.  I'd rather watch on TV or Redbox.

I only go to the theater for really special movies and then I catch the early bird showing, which is less expensive.  Sometimes I go to the "dollar theater".  Most of the time I just borrow the movies from the library.  I used to go to movie night at the library, but I don't have transportation these days.  I also get coupons, by e-mail, to use on concessions.

The thing on top of it all is that they really don't make movies that are very good anymore either. >:(

It is getting way to expensive. If we go to a movie we go to an early movie.
