We have lost another great actor - Ralph Waite. 

PEOPLE MAGAZINE


Ralph Waite, known to millions as John Walton Sr. on the warmhearted 1970s TV series The Waltons – and, more recently, as the Mark Harmon character's father, Jackson "Jack" Gibbs, on the CBS hit NCIS – died at his Palm Desert home at about 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the Desert Sun. He was 85.

The Waltons.... one of my favorite shows growing up. Heck I even catch myself watching it sometimes yet today.

I am really sorry to hear that Ralph Waite (Papa Walton) passed.  I watch the Waltons when I get a chance.  I still like the ending, "Goodnight, John Boy".  RIP Ralph Waite. :( :( :( :rainbow:

I saw that earlier..So sad..Really enjoy the Waltons..We still watch it..I enjoyed his acting on other films..He will be missed..

I never watched the Walton's on any kind of regular basis but when I did watch it I enjoyed it.  I think Ralph Waite was mostly not appreciated for his acting skills but I thought he did a really good job!  He will be missed by many.

I know, there really aren't GREAT actors any more ... may be James Spader ... he's sooo good in the Blacklist.

Anyway, it's another hole in the universe when people like Papa Walton pass.

One of my favorite shows and loved him.Still watch on the Hallmark channel sometimes.

I never saw The Waltons but I do remember him from NCIS. Very sad indeed. Feels like we're losing a lot of talent lately.

Oh POOP, I forgot the was Jethro's DAD on NCIS.  Now that's gona really be a bummer ... he was so good in that role!

I wasn't a regular watcher of the Walton's but I know it was a great show to millions. But he will be missed.
