Title: Closing Ceremonies
Post by: misi49 on February 23, 2014, 10:42:46 pm
The Olympic closing ceremonies are always bitter sweet for me.  For the past two weeks, I enjoyed watching the best athletes of the world compete.  The triumphs and the agonies.  And now it's all over - how sad.  But on the bright side, the Summer Olympics are only two years away and I can now get back to my regular daily routine.  Congratulations to all the medal winners and in my eyes everyone who competed is a winner.

Me too.  I always feel a little sad after that flame is extinguished.  Can't wait for the summer games in 2 years!

At least now I can re-focus on my own mental Olympics (annual trivia game - 54 hour contest) coming up in early April!

I didn't get to see them this year because I was off doing some volunteer work yesterday after Sunday school.

They were lovely.  I really liked the color changing tubes that hung from the ceiling and how the camera operators shot through them.  Until the Ukraine gets to host the games Russian culture is at least close.  I had a grand aunt that got sent to Siberia.  It's a fascinating culture.  I've been learning a bit of Ukrainian and seeing the English and Cyrillic names side by side has inspired me to learn Cyrillic.

The closing ceremonies were incredible to watch. I've enjoyed watching bits and pieces of the Olympics over the last two weeks. It is quite amazing to watch some of the things the athletes can do.

The closing ceremonies are bittersweet for me too. I enjoy watching the Olympics but it takes so much of my time that I am somewhat glad when it's over and I can get back to my normal routine.

I watched several of the events.  They had some problems with conditions because of the warmer weather.  I found it pretty strange watching the Winter Olympics...in Russia...in February...and it was much colder here in Missouri then there.
