Since I am rapidly becoming one, of course I prefer to stay home as long as I possibly can. Now that the Internet is earning for me as well as keeping my brain alert, I hope that will be a long time.

i voted nurse.
luckily, i've never had a parent/grandparent
that had to be put in a nursing home, and i'm sure
a lot of them are nice and comfortable and as homey
as possible, but if i were an old woman... heck no.
my stubborn self is sitting right there in my recliner,
watching my daytime television with the cat on my lap.
but seriously.
that has to be terrifying for the elderly.
WE will be the elderly, you know. WE will all
eventually be faced with nursing home decisions :o

you know, i've always thought that putting my grandad in a nursing home was pretty much the worst thing we ever did to him. i was too young to do anything about it at the time, but i'm just not a fan of the idea. and cloudsoup is right, you know how scary that HAS to be. no matter what, you would feel terrible about yourself :/ like you were a burden to your family - whether or not that were their reasoning for sticking you in there.

I just recently had to put my mother in a nursing home. Was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. she lived with me for 15 years. She has demintia (sp) and I'm afraid to leave her home when I go to work. I pick her up when I'm off on week-ends and go see her every day after work. So far shes ok with it, thank goodness. She likes the activities and stuff but would rather be home. I'm thinking about checking into home health if its covered.

It is very hard losing a loved one when they are in a nursing home. My grandma was in a nursing home until she passed away on Valentines Day of 1998. :angel11:

I saw both of my grandparents deteriorate in a nursing home and I don't think I could live with that with my mom or my dad. I voted for home care 24/7.
