I think that's a great idea. I think the allure of the other type of credit cards is just being able to pay over time and get what you want/need right now. But more power to you for being able to go prepaid. :)

I have been using prepaid cards for a while now.  I like the convenience that you can't spend more than what is on the card.  It serves its purpose for me.   :rainbow:

I prefer prepaid because I don't have to have a credit check, and I can control my spending.

I've considered prepaid cards, but all seem to have transaction fees whenever used.  I just can't justify using them to pay for something and have to pay the extra fee.  Fortunately I typically don't carry balances on my traditional credit card so I can pay off the full balance.

I was just going to mention that... That the prepaid cards are nice, but the transaction fees sometimes make them worse than credit cards. If you don't carry a balance on your traditional cards or if the interest rate is low, then traditional cards make more sense. But if you have difficulties managing a traditional card and / or the traditional card has other fees associated with it (eg some cards have an annual fee regardless of whether you keep a balance on the card or not), then the prepaid may be your better option.

The best prepaid cards are those given as a reward / loyalty card, for then the company that is giving you the card will usually "eat" any fees, so the amount on the card is the amount they promised you.

I use a Discover card and pay it off each month, but I get a bonus of $400 to $500 every year for using it and pay no interest or fees at all.

I use prepaid cards more than credit cards. I don't have to worry about dealing with the high interest rates. I do have a credit card but I only use it if it is a dire emergency. I found life to be alot easier if I stick to that cause without worrying about another bill each month.

I use prepaid cards. I don't need a regular credit card. I would buy so much stuff and be in so much debt if I had one.

I like my cashback incentive and other rewards that credit cards offer, so I would say credit card. I always pay my card in full and at least in my own thinking process I'm not really spending more than I would anyway even if I didn't have a credit card.

I haven't tried the prepaid cards but I know people who have and use them on a regular basis.  Both have advantages and disadvantages.  Use what works best for you.  :)

I don't have either type at this time, but years ago I used both types.

Interesting development today. I use both and when I wanted to upgrade a money making program today I happened to look at one of the prepaid cards I use to earn commissions and found the money I needed. Upgrading with free money is the best way.
