Title: Washing dishes
Post by: melodylogan45 on May 10, 2014, 05:42:13 am
Do you prefer to wash dishes yourself or use your dish washer?

I may have used my used my dish  washer 5 times in a year. I am so use to
washing my own dishes.

I don't wash dishes very  much....Maybe a spoon or cup.
It's just me and there is a dining room in the building. I go there to pick up my meals or stay and have lunch and dinner with friends.

I use my dishwasher for all utensils and plates and do the pots and pans by hand. The latter take up too much space in the dishwasher, so it costs too much to wash them that way. I don't mind doing the dishes because my husband does all the food shopping and all the cooking, which I really like a lot.

before we moved into our new home we had a dish washer and we used it all the time in our new home the kitchen is much smaller and their is no dish washer so i have become the dish washer and i have noticed that things are much cleaner now that i wash them by hand and its much cheaper.

I wash most of my dishes in the dish washer. My pots and a few other items I have are not dishwasher safe.

The bowl to my food processor buy hand. It would cost 30 dollars to replace so hand washing it extends its life.

Ii hand wash my glasses and larger cooking wear and if the water is still clean I will wash a few of the smaller dishes.  I clean as I cook.  My wife dirties a ton of dishes when she cooks and leaves them everywhere which is a tad bit annoying.  My kids don't seem to know where the dishwasher is...even though it is only fourteen inches from the sink.  Rinsing dishes, prior to putting them in the dishwasher appears to be an alien concept to my family. Three weeks ago I gave up and started putting the un-rinsed dishes in the dishwasher.  They come out with hardened gook. I put them away in that state thinking that maybe they will get the idea. Not the case...I live with a bunch of pigs.

Since I don't have a dish washer, I do them myself all the time.  I don't really mind though.  There are only 2 of us and there aren't a lot like when my kids were still at home.

I prefer washing dishes versus the dishwasher. We don't have that many dishes, so it's a waste to let them pile up in the dishwasher when they can be washed and put away.

I like to wash dishes when ever I can, it's like a zen zone out thing.
I have a dish washer, but prefer to just wash the dishes.  I have a scrub wand thing that is filled with dish soap, so easy to wash them. Then I have a microfiber dish cloth that I put the dishes on.

I should just stick them in the washer, the washer even has a garbage disposal in it, so I don't even need to rinse them off, just put them in.   Oh well........   :monkey:

I wash my own dishes.  I have been doing that since I was 13, and I think it is best when you wash them by hand and allow them to air dry.    :rose: :rainbow:

I wash by hand since I do not have a dishwasher. In the last apartment I was in there was a dish washer but it was old and used to much electricity.  I think its better to wash by hand then use a crappy old dishwasher.

I'm about 50/50.  Most of the everyday items - dishes, bowls, glasses, silverware - all go into the dishwasher for convenience.  Items like pots/pans or plastics that would melt or wear out too quickly in the dish washer I do by hand.  When I was in an apartment for 16 years I did all dishes by hand, and when I moved into my house, it came with a dishwasher - and I've found it does help make more efficient use of my time.

I would rather use a dish washer but I do not have one.  So I have to do it myself.  I have tried to get the cat to wash them but he just won't do it. lol

My dishwasher is old and the dishes come out gross unless they're thoroughly rinsed. Why bother?

I start by rinsing the dishes out before putting them in the dish washer but I always feel like I waste more water that way.

Technically I do own a dishwasher but I don't actually use it. I spent the first 30 or so years of my life living in the UK without one (because kitchen space is at a premium) and now that I have one, I forget to use it. The only times I'm reminded that I should make use of it is if we have some friends over on thanksgiving or Christmas. We have an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge so when we put the dishwasher on, I can't hear the tv which irritates me. So, as a rule, I don't use it.

I wish I had a dishwasher to make things easier for me. I've been washing dishes by hand since I was little, so I think it's time for a change. Now if I could just find a place that already has a dishwasher, that would be a good start.

We have a dishwasher, but I've used it once in the 15 years we've lived here.  I think its too much work to load it and un-load it.  I prefer hand washing.  And you're supposed to run your dishwasher only when you have a full load...to save energy and money.  I'd have to wait 4 or 5 days to get a full load and some dishes I use every day. So I'd have to wash it by hand anyway.  Perhaps I'm over-thinking this.  Suffice it say, I hand wash dishes.

I only use the dishwasher when it's full, otherwise I'll wash by hand if I don't have a lot of dishes to wash.

I prefer washing my dishes by hand, start with glasses, then my plates, bowls, silverware which has been soaking and then add more hot water for posts and pans. I do not even have a dishwasher anymore. It was always a fight with hubby on how I wanted them done. This is so much easier and quitter. Unless I am really sick I want even let him hand wash.

I love my dishwasher.  One of my pet peeves is dirty dishes in the sink, so when I use a dish, I rinse it and then put it in the dishwasher.  I put everything in the dishwasher except my pots and pans.

I never saw the point of dish washers since I've seen people have to clean them in the sink before even putting them in the washer.

I like to wash my own dishes rather than dishwasher i personally just believe it is faster. For example i never just put them in the dishwasher i usually rinse them off so they wash quickly then you put them in and if you do not have many it can take awhile to fill up and wash so then you later need something like spatcula you already used so then i take out to wash it by hand to use. For me its just easier to wash by hand i feel they are cleaner im not sure hwy maybe because i am washing myself and then i can use right away and not sure if cheaper but i just like by hand!!
