Does your dog have allergies? If so how do you manage them?
Mine has a constant drippy (clear) nose, itchy skin, and sneezing. Advice needed!

the dogs we have now dont seem to have them but when our Sampson was alive he was a giant malamute he had them bad and we used fish oil pills --they help so much with the itch and helped his coat also--before we heard of this almost all his hair fell out he looked awful!! i am so glad the vet told us about fish oil

I have 1 dog that has severe allergies. My vet sent us to a specialist and he had a complete test done. There is a list a mile long of things he is allergic to. The only thing that seems to help is 1) we give him a bath every week in prescription shampoo 2) he gets 1 Zyrtec pill every day 3) we give him an allergy shot twice a week. Good luck with your dog.

Our malamute/husky has some. Her ears get real itchy. She'll rub them on the floor or the couch. Or we'll just scratch them for her, she really likes that.

my dog does not have allergies but he does have seizures :dog:

My dog has allergies sometimes. She has been so bad we were afraid she couldn't breathe. The vet sait to give her 1/2 of a Claiton allergy tablet when she gets bad.

Good to know. I will give those a try. I do give her half a zyrtec as well when she seems to be bad and have switched to a wheat free food. She seems some better.

Children's benedryl! My dog has allergies pretty bad. Sometimes it gets to the point he scratches bald spots on himself. We use to have to take him for allergy shots. We dose him up with benedryl when he starts his itching now.

Great information, will try and remember those things I have only tried the Benadryl.

Thankfully neither of them don't. the only allergies they have are being too damn cute :)

I don't have dogs, but my neighbor has a dog that's a little under a year old. They just found out their dog is allergic to his own dander (how horrible, right?). They got special drops from the vet to give their dog to handle that as well as all the other spring pollen and grasses that he's also apparently allergic to.

My dog allergic to chicken any foods that chicken ingredients, it get diarrhea and pukes everywhere,She only eats lamb ingredient very expensive dog.

I had a dog some years ago that was allergic to 28 things out of the 30 they tested him for. I had to give him a shot once a week until he died. I was lucky because the medication hadn't been approved yet so he was part of a test. I did have to take him back to the vet periodically.

When my dog started with all of the above (like you dog), my vet said it was safe to give him BENADRYL (children's). I don't remember what the dosage was, so you might want to look it up on the web.

I had to read this thread, I thought it was just the weirdest thing to see a dog with allergies, but not only does he have allergies, he seems to be allergic to his own dander. I have had dogs my entire life and this is the second time with a boxer and they are not the best choice if you have allergies.
