Which is easier for you?
-
i do both..i guess it really depends on what it is for..birthday cakes are scratch..something to just make for something around the house,a box mix..and then i still add some vanilla to it and or some other flavoring to try and spruce it up a bit.
-
I use cake mix its way easier.
-
I like to make cakes from scratch. I make cakes with a mix occasionally.
-
I use cake mixes, easier.
-
Both. I like to bake just about anything but it really depends on how much time I have in putting something together. No matter what I prefer making my own frosting though. I will use store bought for coverage but when it comes to decorating I have found butter cream or whipped holds it's shape.
-
I do both. I have a couple of cake recopies I do from scratch the rest I use a cake mix. The ones from scratcg I think taste better but the mixes are a little easier. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

Which is easier for you?
I love to make or bake from scratch because it stock in my brain.
-
I do both, both are easy for me, I like a chocolate cake from scratch, and a white cake from box, as Ive never found a from scratch white cake I liked the taste of
-
I mostly use box mix, but every once in a while I'll make one from scratch.
-
I used both but always box mix if limited time.
-
I usually use a cake mix because it saves a little time. I have a strawberry cake mix in the cupboard right now lol I made strawberry shortcake using cupcakes that I cut in half and that worked really well.
-
I also use both depending on how much time and what the occasion is most of time from scratch though
-
It depends on the occasion and sometimes the child! My oldest daughter prefers from scratch, while my youngest is either store bought or boxed mix :)
-
mix it a lot ezer that way
-
uhhhh i don't bake at all,,, i'm not a good baker so i don't even try . I let someone else do it for me :)
-
I did the box thing cause I am busy. but hubby's condition diet states no on boxed cake, so actually we as in you too should not eat box cake. but geez the easy, tell the manufacturers to do make the dry to be easier on our bodies and not time/work. REALLY
-
I usually bake them from the box but I like homeaid ones from ppl.
-
I use cake Mix, I wish I could bake a cake from scratch. I am not a baker cannot cook any sweets from scratch.
-
I tried baking my husband his birthday cake from scratch a few years ago, and I failed miserably.
I stick to box mix.
It's easier for me, and I know it will turn out better.
When I made the cake from scratch, it was SUPER dense. It didn't fluff up at all.
-
Cake mix. I don't care enough to bake from scratch. Sauces though, I make from scratch.
-
Both but mostly from the boxes.
-
I don't make cakes much any more, but use mixes more than scratch. I have one scratch recipe I do occasionally.
-
Cake mix for me! I make pies from scratch.
-
Most of the time I bake from scratch, once in a while a box cake, or if I am really lazy I will buy a pound cake or angel food cake. Depends on what is going on. The pound cake is really good with fresh berries.
-
oth. Cakes I usually use mixes but cookies. I will usually make them from scatch.
-
I use a mix it is faster, and I don't really know how to make them from scratch.
-
I always make cakes from scratch because I have tried cake mixes and for some reason they just come out wrong. Also I like to know what is in my cakes having lactose intolerance and my husband being a diabetic.
-
I've always used mix. If I tried to make one from scratch I would probably mess it up. I would like to learn how to bake/cook some time.
-
I would like to bake a cake from stratch, but I use cake mixes. Unfortunately for me, when my hubby had our stove put in, it is lopsided and it makes my cakes uneven. I have a cake mix that I have to use up soon. I have four cake pans and two cupcake tins (one is round and one is square). I may make cupcakes, since they turn out better.   :rainbow: :rose:
-
I like to use both. For something really special, I'll make it from scratch, but the box mixes work really well too.
-
Neither, I just buy it at a bakery. I like to cook, but I can't bake to save my life.
-
Cake mix always easy for me and most of the time turn out right.
-
Scratch baking is much better than any mixes. Besides processed foods have all sorts of artificial ingredients that harm our bodies. :P
-
I use a mix. I usually don't bake at all, don't have the time. To be real honest. I just buy one already made.
-
I prefer scratch but there are times that I will do boxed.
-
I have never bake a cake from scratch it takes a long long time.
-
I bake cakes using box mix, but I make cheesecake from scratch, though it's technically a pie lol.
-
Which is easier for you?
I like to make cakes from scratch, but i don't have the time anymore, so i use cake mix more then making it from scratch.
-
I do not like scratch cakes so I only bake with cake mixes. My mother made her cakes from scratch but I prefer box cakes.
-
cake mix most of the time
-
I only us box cake mix, It is more convenient.
-
I haven't made a cake from scratch in years. I used to have a problem with them looking more like pancakes than a cake so I do the boxes every time.
-
usually cake mix sadly i just do not bake cakes often or know how to maybe someday i will try to
-
I use the cake mix from the box. Who would say from scratch would be easier? LOL !
I just baked six cakes last week and donated them to our church for the youth fundraiser.
I sometimes do make frosting from scratch. :silly:
-
it really depends on the time crunch for me i prefer to make everything homemade but when im in a bind i have been known to use a cake mix.
-
I've done both, just depends on what I have around the house and how I feel.
-
I don't bake cakes too often but when I do, I use a cake mix. I always look for the easy way out.
-
Which is easier for you?
i love cake from the xo 8ox
-
Sometimes I bake cakes from scratch and sometimes I use a store bought mix. If I'm baking a birthday cake I will use a store bought mix. This is partly because there is still some decorating to be done so a ready made mix is a help to cut down on time and the potential for anything to go wrong. However if I'm just baking an ordinary cake, some muffins, cupcakes or a jelly roll, I will make up the mix myself. The last jelly roll I made was superb with a mix of crème cheese, vanilla essence and pumpkin flavored sponge.
-
Cake mix of course! Why? Because it's easy and I don't have to worry about having specific ingredients
-
I am in no way a baker so for me it is lot easier to just use the premade mixes available. I do however want to try to one day bake a cake from scratch I think that would be a lot of fun, not sure if it will come out edible but it is always worth a try haha.
-
I do both ways the pre pakaged cake mix is the easiest to do no instructions but i like the other way you can control what goes in and experiment to see what comes out what works and what not
-
If I did bake cakes I am sure I would use the cake mix that you buy in the store
-
I can't bake really (yea not cool lol) but I use cake mix and even then I mess that up at times.
-
I use a cake mix for layer and sheet cakes.....they always turn out better and are so easy. But, for other kinds of cakes, like coffee cakes I use grandmas standby recipes most often. Here is a great coffee cake that you can add fillings for ( cream cheese, cinnamon and brown sugar beaten till soft.... or fruit filling with fresh fruit boiled with sugar and cornstarch or just use jam.) It is moist and really good:
Coffee Bread
375 degree oven for 30 minutes
1 cup sour milk (add 1 Tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup milk and let is curdle while you get the rest of the ingredients ready)
when curdled, beat in:
1 egg
1/4 cup melted butter or shortening (my favorite) or lard (what grandma used)
Mix together:
2 cups Flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
Mix together the milk, egg, shortening mixture with the dry ingredients and stir til everything is mixed together and no dry flour remains. Don't overbeat it, it will be lumpy.
Spread in 9x9 greased baking dish. If adding a filling, spread 1/2 in pan, add filling, then top with rest of mixture.
When mixture is all in the pan, sprinkle the top with cinnamon crumbles.
Cinnamon crumble:
(melt one tablespoon butter then add 1 teaspoon cinnamon, one tablespoon sugar or brown sugar, one tablespoon flour)
This makes a great breakfast or snack cake for lunches or break time.
-
i use cake mix but one of these days i am gonna try it from scratch
-
I don't really bake cake but my wife does both. When she is in a hurry she will just use the cake mix, when she has a whole afternoon then she'll just make it from scratch. Although I think the cake mix is too sweet for my taste in the present. We need to keep that sugar low. I do not like too sweet and rich type of cakes.
-
I really don't bake a lot of cakes. I've used boxes in the past, but have gotten more used to making deserts from scratch. After making them from scratch, the store bought boxes mixes just don't measure up to me.
-
Only use mixes. Just me in the house and why bother any more than necessary/
-
I don't even know where to begin with a cake from scratch. Thank God for cake mix.
-
ive actually never tried baking from scratch so i guess baking from a box is easier and more convenient.
-
I haven't made a cake in a while, but I prefer to make it from scratch. That doesn't mean I'm opposed to using cake mix as I have done it before. I just add a little bit extra to make it taste more homemade. Either way is really good.
-
Which is easier for you?
Cake mix! I only make them from scratch when helping my grandma. :]
-
I use cake mix its way easier.
Same here! cake mixes are more convenient.
-
Grocery store bakery cakes. That's how I roll.
-
It depends on what dessert I am wanting to fix. Some cakes are much better from scratch. Sometimes I will use a cake mix for more complex desserts - compotes, trifles, layered desserts, etc.
-
Most Of The Time I Use Cake Mix But Once In A While I Like To Start From Scratch
-
I use cake mix in a box. Only at my moms do I bake from scratch
-
Cake mix and use other ingredients
-
I like using cake mixes, because the results are much better.
