Title: pink or purple???
Post by: colbtrist on June 14, 2014, 02:28:59 pm
This might be a silly question, but I have a little girl finally after 5 boys and I want to paint her room. I just want an opinion what do you think would be better for a 2 year old girl pink or purple for the color of her bedroom walls :female: ?

Why not paint it both pink and purple?  Stripes may set it off nicely.  Just my opinion. :female: :female: :female:  :rainbow: :rose:

I've always been partial to purple myself (and I'm a girl).  I never liked pink.  Maybe show something to your 2 year old with each color and see if she responds more positively to the object with one color vs the other.  If so, go with that color.

What about a soft lilac. Very little girlish.

Some girls really end up hating pink and purple when they get just a little older. I know I was like that. You might want to consider using a gender neutral color like yellow or orange.

My mother painted my bedroom a combination of pink and purple with purple carpet that I was not allowed to have changed, regardless of whether I paid for it or her. I ended up writing on the walls in sharpie.

That's just my opinion, though. Good luck with the decision on the room!

Does she have a favorite color? Why limit the choices to just pink or purple. Maybe you could show her some different paint samples and have her pick the one that she likes.

Purple is becoming more popular among girls than pink, and it usually remains a favorite color as they grow.

In my opinion, actually either one would be good for a little girl - I am a 60 year old "little girl" lol and since my hubby passed away I was going to do my room in pink but I went with purple and it is really looking nice.  So again in your case either one would work.

Well since you can't decide if it should be pink or purple, why not go with lavender.

Everyone usually goes with pink for girls. But since my favorite color is purple, I would go with purple. My niece did her room in purple and also liked unicorns, Disney characters. Enjoy the decorating!

Oh decorating a little girls room is so much fun.  My daughters first room was done in Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.  I found the cutest comforter set on ebay... and from there I pulled colors out of it and went crazy.  My little girl (now 16) never was a girly girl and I knew that from the get go.  She hates pink - is tolerant of purple and only wears dresses for special occasions.  She's not much of a tomboy either.  Maybe taking your daughter to look at fabric, bedroom sets and so forth would stimulate some ideas.  You can always build around that.

I like purple because she could grow into it, and it's a little different. We see all the time that a girl has to have pink well purple is as great as pink and it's still girlish. Hope this helps!

I think both would look good together. That would be very cute. I have always liked both pink and purple.

I would paint it lavender which is a little of both then she can decide later on what she prefers.

I agree that a combination of both colors would look great and offer a contrast. Little girls love both colors.

I agree with what others have said about including your little girl in the decision making. :) Even at 2, she'll be more enthusiastic about her new paint job if it's something she helped choose and really likes. If it comes down to pink or purple - I vote a soft purple color. My room has been purple since I was 11 and it's light enough that every so often it gets confused with a darker shade of pink. lol Have fun decorating!!! :rainbow: :star:

Two years old, I like pink and if ypu cannot decide do them both, pink and purple looks great together.
