I was visiting my daughter last night when I asked if I could borrow a newspaper....
"This is the 21st century" she said. "We don't waste money on
newspapers. Here… use my iPad...."
I can tell you this.... That fly never knew what hit him....

Ha... That's cute... I have an d lady friend that hoards em papers for coupons and old articles

That was too funny. I don't have a newspaper subscription, but I do try to grab the Sunday newspaper for coupons and certain other articles. My grandson was in the paper, and I missed it. One Sunday, my hubby had a picture taken because we had a tornado in the area and he volunteered to help out. I got that paper, but had no idea it was him! LOL!! ;D ;D ;D   :rainbow: :rose:

:)funny a use for everything.

I need to subscribe to the paper because our local paper won't allow you to view it on line unless you have a hard copy subscription. They just upped the cost again to $201 a year. That's ridiculous for 20 pages and half those pages are mostly ads, which should be paying the majority of costs to print it.

I love reading a newspaper. Unfortunately I seldom have the time. I always find interesting articles and editorials I just don't find online. My father still reads the paper every day.
-
I receive the Sunday paper but they stopped the daily paper because I live to far out and no one else near me was getting it daily. I have to have a subscription to access it online anyway. It costs me about $100 a year.
-
That was a good one! My mother still gets the paper she is 80, she brings it to us when she is done with it, we use it for the litter box!
-
I read the paper once a week and I don't subscribe to it. It is such a rinky dink once a week paper. Too me it is not worth the cost. But dad, who lives out of town gets it. Suits him too a T. so when we go out either to take him groceries or just to pick him up and go somewhere I read it. Takes me about 15 minutes.

That is realllllly funny! I did chuckle for a bit over that one!!!!

That was a good one. I wasn't expecting that outcome.

lol
My father still gets the paper daily. He reads it for hours in the morning, even looks at the ads - even though he never buys anything. He does the crossword puzzle all morning. Brain Training maybe. I don't know what he would do with his mornings if he canceled the paper, he would be lost. & he has an iPad but doesn't really use it. He's 79. an active & fit 79, but still needs that paper. Old people............

just like to read them feel them and keep old school around.

My Husband (not a senior) loves to sit and read the morning newspaper while drinking his coffee each morning. He reads other content online but it its not the same.
-
We get the Sunday paper for coupons and to read some articles. Most of the little store's around here have quit carrying it, we have to go all the way to town to get it. Walgreens usual has one of the Sunday papers we can buy on Monday.
-
My parents still get the paper. Mom loves the coupons and sales papers. But she would not be able to go digital. Her cell phone is just a basic flip phone and even with that she doesn't know how to use all the features. And my dad used to be very good with computers but with his eye sight now...

I'm not a senior yet and I'm technologically savvy, but I still prefer my physical paper copy still in both magazines (at least some) and newspapers. I currently subscribe to the Wallstreet Journal and a local newspaper. I don't care what other people think.
-
I still prefer newspaper than read from pc.
-
As an avid reader of newspapers, I sure did appreciate that story. Thanks for sharing it.
-
Had me going, thanks for the giggle.
-
lol! I really did laugh out loud at that. I've swatted many a fly with a rolled up newspaper! The younger generation doesn't know what they are missing! My mom still gets the newspaper at 103! She says she was born too soon for all this new technology.

We have the option to have a paid online subscription but you do not have to have the hard copy also. You pay for that separate if you want it. I do not have either. Our paper is a joke. There is never anything in it. I can access the local news via a couple of radio stations. And you can view part of the paper online for free so if there is something in the head lines I can go get one if I need to.

It's a generational thing. When my kids are older who knows what'll be around!
-
Think all ages could use them...a mix of all the different formats make things interesting.... just to use only one such as an ipad would be boring
-
Ha - took me a second, but I get it .... lol
-
we seniors aare not all up to the electronics they have now I still read the local paper for locl news can't find that on an ipad
-
I still like reading the newspaper and not online. I use the newspaper for when I paint. Many uses for newspaper. Especially washing windows and use the newspaper to dry them off. Its the ink in the newspaper that makes the windows shine without any streaks.
-
I haven't bought a newspaper in many years. I don't plan to either. I get my news paper delivered to my inbox. My parents still read the old paper newspaper.
-
my husband still reads newspapers
-
I don't get the newspaper. It's mostly ads now.
-
I am not a Senior - more like middle aged and I still prefer PRINT NEWSPAPERS over modern technology. I receive our local newspaper twice a week and then I get a national newspaper on the weekends for the comics and coupons. It's easier to read a print newspaper as the newspapers online are so cluttered.
-
I love reading the paper. I use to get the whole week but, my newspaper was cut down to 3 days a week. Now I just get Sundays paper. I guess I could read online but, I prefer paper print. The same with books. Guess I am old fashioned.
