Title: Carrying a purse
Post by: melodylogan45 on July 18, 2014, 04:29:35 am
How many women out there carry everything but the kitchen sink in their purse?

I am guilty of it everyday that i go to work. Since i am there for 8 hours, i take things that i need because i only get
a half hour lunch, so i do not want to use my time to run home for anything.

When i go anywhere else, i switch purses and leave all the extras at home. :D

I carry my stuff, my husbands stuff and all kinds of other stuff, most of which I don't need. But it seems like if I take something out then I will need it.

I have a huge purse so I tend to really just throw everything in there. If I go to the store and only have a couple bags I just throw it all in my purse. I had a 2 liter and chips in my purse when I went to the movies the other day and you couldn't tell

I carry almost everything but the kitchen sink.  I carry my stuff and his stuff.  I carry aspirin, tums, baby wipes (for grandson), coupons (never know when you need them).  I tried cleaning out my purse but didn't throw anything out!

I got TIRED of carrying a purse. I had a large enough bag that I would toss my coffee mug in there, daughter's toys, etc. Could never find anything. For the last few months I have just been carrying a wristlet wallet. FREEING.

I've gone back and forth carrying a big purse for a while then tiring of carrying so much stuff I downsize to a small purse.  The cycle repeated many times.  ::) These days I carry a tote/purse so I can take breakfast with me, to eat on the train, when I go up to Albuquerque for the day.  Then I can put small purchases in it instead of carrying a separate bag.  ;)

I carry a purse but it doesn't have anything of value in it so if I am robbed of my purse I would like to see the expression on their face when they discover that the most they will get is some loose change (less than a dollar) and a pack of cigarettes. By the way I don't own credit cards or debit cards. So a thief would be sorry if he took my bag and I would laugh my (?) off.

I don't carry a purse. I'm sure I'd forget it somewhere. I like traveling light, and not being tied down with anything. I have a wallet I can stick in my pocket.

If I'm only going out for a short while, I take very little and just put it in my pockets. If I think I'm going to be gone for longer, I carry a pharmacy, haha. Tissues, feminine hygiene stuff, mints, compact mirror, TWO wallets (one for change and one for everything else!), etc. :) I always feel prepared.

OMG! That soon exactly like me! I finally started buying smaller handbags because the bigger it is the more stuff I will put in it.

I have a bag that I use at work. I usually don't carry a purse. I had a bad habit of sitting it down and forgetting it when I was a teenager, so I don't carry them often. I carry one into the grocery store or bank sometimes. And if I go out and don't have pockets I may carry one. Especially if it matches my outfit. I usually just keep it locked up in the trunk of my car.

I do not carry a purse anymore because there are too many purse snatchers in this world. I carry a backpack now...because it is safer!

I always carry one. I don't think I would if it wasn't cross body since I tend to forget things.
I actually need to carry a purse because I walk with a cane and can't carry things in my hands. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

I was never much of a "purse" person.  When I got into rock climbing a while back, I found a mini-backpack type "purse" which was small and light enough to carry the essentials (water, camera, car keys).  I use that as my purse.  Small enough for the essentials (checkbook/money, phone, tissue, keys, small umbrella in the summer).  That's all I need.

I carry a purse with a little bit of everything.  You never know when you're going to need a band aid or snack or magazine!

I try to only carry the necessities.  I have to have my wallet and I carry my checkbook and sunglasses and chapstick.
Those are the basics that I carry.  My cell phone goes with me where ever I go, so that also goes into my purse.

It's better to be prepared than not prepared I say.

On the other hand, you don't want to carry so much stuff that your purse becomes heavier than a load of bricks. A heavy purse is not good for the shoulder and it'll wear out your purse straps that much sooner!  ;)

always take my purse, but  may hide it in the car and not take it with me when I have hubby along as he can carry some cash. But when I have my dad I must carry it at all times as it has meds and an energy bar in it. He has diabetes  and it is not fun when his sugar drops too far and he goes down. I can get on it pretty fast and having him back up if I am close enough. Otherwise it takes longer. But the purse sure gets heavy at times.

I used to carry a medium-to-large sized purse, but when I went overseas recently, I used a small cross-body bag and have been using it ever since. Had to organize and carry only the essentials, but I like it much better. The only time I had a much bigger bag was when my children were little and had to carry stuff for them.

I don't usually carry purses (except for formal situations) but I've found some cute ones that I'm willing to start with.

That's actually a good idea! I should carry a 'decoy' bag, just in case.

The most challenging purse issue is how to pare down what you carry when traveling and still have all the stuff you need.  Lugging around a heavy bag is the pits; I am always looking for a purse that is roomy but of very lightweight yet strong material, like the "parachute" fabric that was popular years ago.

I like a large handbag even if I don't fill it up with stuff. I would carry a purse even if it was empty.

I carry a purse with only what I need. When I go out to a restaurant, I like to bring one.
I don't keep it too heavy though.
I have a friend who used to carry a heavy purse. She also kept hitting her leg and had a constant wound that, once it healed, came back again since she kept banging her leg.
The day came when she needed a walker and no longer has that problem; no need to carry a purse.

I have found that carrying just what you really need is best. A big purse is too heavy tolug around. I like the light-weight purses. They are easier to handle and you don't carry around too much stuff.

I try to keep it light; but that does not always work out. I take out my quarters and keep them in the car, change adds weight by always taking out the quarters,I always have change when I need it and takes off some of the load.
