Title: Drinking water
Post by: sgluckadoo on August 25, 2014, 09:24:08 am
Does anyone else have problems making themselves drink water? I have such a hard time getting it down. Sometimes I even gag! It has to be almost frozen-slushy cold for me to drink it. Weird.

I didnt like to at first but now I drink close to a gallon a day. You might want to try add some type of flavoring at first then slowly start to decrease that until you get use to it.

Believe me you're not the only one with this issue. Before they came out with the portable water bottles people actually opted not to drink water.

I used to not drink much water but now I try to everyday.  I drink plain bottled water and it is much easier than trying to make myself drink tap water.  I don't like any of the flavored water.  Our city water is not the best quality so we switched to bottled water several years ago.  My father-in-law does not like drinking water at all even though his dr's tell him he needs to.  He thinks Dr.Pepper is a good sub. for water.

I don't mind drinking it, but it has to have a whole lot of ice and of course be ice cold.  Now when we lived in the southern part of N.M. our water tested out at 99.8%pure. It was so good and came right out of the well cold. But this city water is not the best. So I drink weak tea and lots of ice. Oh heck just give me the ice.

Yeah, unless it is hot outside, I don't really drink water. However I am trying to drink more water for health reasons. I will continue the good struggle.

I think it depends on which one you buy. some of them I can't drink but the one I have bought for the past two years I have no problem drinking. So you might try a different brand to see if you still have the same problem.

Water is slowly becoming one of my favorite drinks. It's the only drink I buy right now. I started drinking it more for health reasons. It really is one of the best drinks for your body.

Do you like tea? I particularly like Celestial Seasonings. Try one of the fruit flavors but don't add anything else to it. I drink green tea everyday, that taste took some getting used to. Tea's good for you and you'll increase your water intake.

If I'm drinking water it has to be ice cold. I went many years without drinking much water, and it is worth it to drink it. It's so good for you and really improves your skin...

Water is like almost the only thing I drink now besides milk and and sometimes tea or hot cocoa. I have a hard time drinking anything else. Soda/pop makes me sick.

Water is really good to drink if you're thirsty. It's the best thing ever to quench your thirst. I bought a SodaStream machine which makes carbonated water which I absolutely love.

If you put a twist of lemon and lime in the water for flavor, it's wonderful. It's also good for you.  :star: The citrus helps your bones, and the water is very beneficial if you drink distilled. This is according to the Better Bones Blog I read online.

I haven't heard about having issues with drinking water, unless you're not feeling well or your passage is not clear. Perhaps it's the temperature of the water that might be better, such as warm or hotter water. My own discouragement to not drink too much, especially when working is more visits to the restroom, which I don't always have the time in between meetings.

Try some flavored or sparkling water.  I personally love drinking water but I know some people who don't like it and that's what they get.

Drinking water might be hard if you are not used to it, but you can try adding some lemon and that makes it better.

Luke warm water is disgusting to me.  I had the same problem where I basically would take a mug, fill it full of ice cubes, add a tiny bit of water to get them started melting quicker, and then drink it once they started melting.  Finally I hit a point after doing that for almost a month straight where I could drink lots of water much easier until I fell out of the habit.

I'd recommend doing it with some flavoring first to get yourself used to drinking that instead of whatever it is you normally drink.  Or do like half and half.  Like say you drink 3 cups a coffee a day, drink two coffee, then one water (in whatever order), then increase the water until you hit the desired level either by decreasing the coffee or just by drinking more water.  I would do that at restaurants where I would get a soft drink and a water and whenever they brought me a refill of soda, I had to drink a full glass of water.

Don't have a hard time but it easier for me to swallow if it's cold water & filtered cuz i really don't like access stuff from the facet going into my body. Try filtered, distilled, or purified water.

I add lemon or lime to it usually.  I've seen the ideas for making fruit infused waters, those look good.  Tea is another good way to get some extra water down.

I drink water more than anything during the day.  I try to stay away from soft drinks but I will have a glass of wine in the evenings or sometimes a single beer.  We drink only bottled water because the quality of our city water leaves something to be desired.  We get notices a couple of times a year saying the water failed to meet certain standards.  That's scarey really.

My little sister was like that; she NEVER liked water, still doesn't to this day, but she forces herself to drink it sometimes b/c she now knows how fundamental it is to the proper nourishment of the hair, skin, nails, teeth, muscles, and so on.

Lately I've been drinking cucumber lemon detox water and it's yummy!  Most recipes call for mint leaves for flavoring but I don't even find that I need it.  I still may try it anyway just to change it up, either mint leaves or some kind of berry (raspberry or strawberry).
