Title: work! work! work!
Post by: jcalexis on August 25, 2014, 04:04:54 pm
I started my vacation today. I thought that I was going to stay in bed all day. Wrong! I woke up early to exercise. As soon as finished with my breakfast, I ended up at home depot buying tools to fix my bed. After I was done fixing the bed, I took my daughter to her swimming lesson. Then I got home. When I got home, I sat on the computer doing my ptc sites. Before I knew it was night time. tomorrow I have more work to do. I guess my vacation is not really a vacation after all.

I know that feeling a lot. You need to get some down time man. Sometimes I feel like all I do is work.

unless you have  plans to go away .. a vacation is usually just a vacation from your normal job.  It gives you time to do the things at home that you don't normally have time to do.

I hear you there...it seems like work is all we do here too.  We are short staffed at my job so everyone is putting in overtime.......anyone live near southwestern Minnesota?!  fill out an app!

Last night though, my husband and I had a nice bonfire and put on some music and slow danced on the patio.  Refreshing and soothing for our souls.

I do more on my day off than I do on days that I work.  Sometimes I look forward to going back to work so I can get back in my routine and get some rest.....lol.

Funny you should say that because I am disabled/retired and I don't know how I did all that I did each day when I was still working - I feel busier now than then.  Well regardless enjoy your vacation.

That's how it goes around here for vacation time!  It gets all used up doing all the things that you don't have time for while working.  Oh well, even a vacation at home is still a vacation away from the workplace...

Lots of people have that problem. They can't relax when they are supposed to.

It does feel like there is something to be done. I have a mental list of things to do and I postpone some of them as I cringe on getting to them. Life does seem like this when you're in the forefront maintaining the household.

That's usually the way my vacations are.  Generally can't afford to go anywhere and there is always more that needs to be done around the house than you can do in a week.  This year is different, though, for me.  I get to go on the vacation of a lifetime to Hawaii thanks to the trip that I won!

that usually happens to me every weekend. Too bad the work days don't go by so fast as the days we have off!

That's the one thing that stinks about STAY-cations... you still are busy getting stuff done.

I hope you get to take a real vacation soon!

Don't really get much of a vacation such as a week or two; but I feel exactly the way you described it about my days "off".

I know sometimes you even need a vacation from your vacation because of everything you do and you don't always get paid for vacation either.

It may seem bad now, but when all these jobs are done you can really relax from your paid job and your staycation.  If you come to some jobs you don't really want to do, maybe they didn't really need done.  If you still think they do and came come up with the money pay to get them done while you relax.  It is always easier to relax when these jobs that don't get done for a while are finally crossed off the list.    ]

Working when you are suppose to be on vacation can be a problem and it seems to happen to most of us.  But there comes a time when we all need to take some "ME TIME" and just sit back, relax and gives our bodies the break they need.  If you are good to your body it will be good to you.  I know it's easier said than done but try to find some time just for you.   :)  :peace:

There are a lot of works laying around when you least expect it.  But if you put everything aside then you will find your free time.  I know it hard but you need to set it or else never have time for yourself. :)

Staycations often make you feel like that. There is always work to be done. Sometimes you just have to take some time out for yourself.

I plan my vacation each year with slots to rest and to have some me time. One of these days I will stick to the plan.

I'm on call 7 days a week. The only way I can vacation is to actually leave home. Let's see.. that was in 2004 I think.

Force yourself to relax
Plan a spa day or maybe just schedule in an hour massage
one small step at a time

Tell me about it.  I remember when vacation meant I got to play video games or go outside and enjoy the weather.  Now it seems like I go on vacation so I can take care of my normal activities that have been put on hold due to work.  I don't get it.

I hear that a lot of people's vacations are similar to yours. We have to force ourselves to take real vacations and relax.

One thing about laying around the house is that you think of things you could be doing. It may be better next time to get away from your home and go somewhere so that you can really enjoy yourself and the day.

Run! Wake up early and run to a nice hotel and check in. Don't answer your cell phone and hire a nurse in case of emergency and leave her or him to watch over your family. Get a security guard to watch in case of something awful. Run I tell you they are coming for you. :monkey:

As long as you're home and not accustomed to it you'll find something to do. Try making a to do list with things that will make your day feel more like a vacation.

Way too funny!  I am the same way.  I just finished one project and have the rest of today and tomorrow free. So I have been catching up on my monthly posts.  Working on Point to Clicks. Sorting through e-mails. Getting ready to go to the gym. Planning on taking care of two home projects. Doing laundry.  Looking at a part time project that I can do when the other projects are slow...at my own leisure. Walking the dogs. Getting a little bit ahead on my day time project for Monday. Cleaning my study. Getting things ready to cook for the week's lunches. Fixing my bed. Is there no end?  Can we no longer take time to just relax?  Or is it all just preparing for making work easier. Kind of sick when you look at it!

It does seem to go that way with work always needing to be done, but I recently got a cut in my hours and now I really want to go do work...

Vacations rarely involve rest or relaxation, you can always find something to do. Have a good time on your vacation :)
