No I make Thanksgiving dinner and for Christmas I make a huge breakfast. With things like eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, muffins, waffles, etc.
-
stay at home and cook with family love to cook turkey and all the fixins and ham and lots of treats for christmas.
-
Nope, those are days to be with family and cook, in my family the tradition is that we all cook something and do a sort of potluck but with a menu already set up, we make the menu and every family offers to cook and bring something from the menu that way nobody gets stuck in the kitchen and we all enjoy and have a nice time. For Christmas we eat and celebrate in family on December 24th and make enough food so everybody can take home and eat the next day with minimum cooking.
-
Very undecided this year. I want to cook but at the same time want to kick back and relax for the holidays.
-
We usually just stay home and cook a nice meal.
-
No, we never went out on holidays. I cook the dinner and have family and friends over.
-
It's been a few years since I "celebrated" either holiday, so for me there is neither cooking nor going out to eat. Thanksgiving and Christmas are pretty much like any other day to me. :)
-
My family eats dinner on those days cooked by people in the family.
-
No we have meals with the family for both those holidays, I am blessed to have great cooks in the family
-
No, we don't go out, but we order take-out dinners. Hubby says why cook a big meal for just the two of us. This way hubby gets his ham and I get my turkey. We order from a local restaurant and their dinners are fantastic and not very expensive. There are restaurants we could go for free dinners but we like the peace and quiet of being at home.
For over 20 years, I would cook dinner for 15 people or more every Thanksgiving and Christmas, making turkey, ham, potato filling, mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussel sprouts, corn, green beans, and have pumpkin, apple, and cherry pies for desert. It got to be too much for me when I was also taking care of my mom, so I had to stop.
-
I don't like to eat at restaurant during these holidays. I prefer spending the time at a friend's house or family members.
-
I would love to go out instead of cooking!!!
-
nope we stay in and cook..family time and more personal than going out to eat
-
No we never go out to eat for Thanksgiving or Christmas. At Thanksgiving, my older daughter usually takes charge and makes a big meal with turkey and stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoe, broccoli or sting beans and a salad with pies and ice cream for dessert. At Christmas time we usually buy a smoked ham and everyone chips in and brings sides and desserts. Both meals are usually a lot of fun and very tasty too.
-
We always go out to my brothers, they have a big house and a large family, where it is just hubby and I now. I always cook and bake food to take out. We enjoy it. The kids clean up and then we come home and stretch out. always a very nice day.
-
My family is big on cooking as well so we don't go out for dinner instead we all cook together or bring different platters.
-
We have holiday dinners with family in each others' homes. Once we attended a Thanksgiving dinner at our community banquet center. It wasn't really for me.
-
My families aren't real close geographically so the last couple of years we have gone to a banquet hall in our local area. We take a friend of my younger son and the two of us and have a nice meal. We see lots of people we know there.
It's not that expensive and there's no clean up. 8) I used to love doing Thanksgiving :turkey: when we were closer to one another but it's more difficult now. So this has been working just fine for us. I'm happy that so many of you value Thanksgiving dinner with the family. :turkey: It's a wonderful time to get together.

We have a lt of really good cooks, so we have both of those meals at someone in the familys home. Every body brings sides dishes and we just hang out all together for the day. We have the first meal at about 1 PM then any of the family that hasmore than one family to go to can head out early. We play board games and just talk and visit with no rushing. Always a great day. m

We never go out to dinner on holidays. I love spending it at home or with family. We all bring something to add to the meal and play games and talk afterwards.
-
Well the "family" consists of my Dad and I these days. Many years I have had to work half a day on Thanksgiving (I work in the office) as they want a 3 day weekend here in the South so it is the "traditional" manufacturing way. So one of the local hotels does an incredible buffet and that is what we do!
-
We make dinner for Thanksgiving and for Christmas.
Thanksgiving is the "traditional" meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies, and dessert....usually pumpkin of some kind.
Christmas -- we like soups in the crockpot so we can attend church, open gifts, and share time together playing games rather than spending a lot of time cooking.

What rock have you been hiding under? It has been many years since Walmart closed on Thanksgiving and I don't know of any grocery stores that close on Thanksgiving. And every fast food place and restaurant are open. As far as Christmas day yeah most places are closed (use to all of them were) but now all the gas stations are open, Walgreens is open, and it won't be long til Walmart will be open too. Then people can take all their presents back Christmas day instead of the 26th.
-
No I do all my cooking from scratch

I have never gone out for Thanksgiving or Christmas! But my husband when growing up, only went out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I couldnt believe it when I learned that. Ever since our first holidays together he never even wants to go out any more :) just something about a home cooked meal I guess ;D
-
We always stay in forthe holiday meals, those are our big family get togethers so we all cook something.
-
I've never gone out to eat Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, but this year my family and I are considering it.
-
All that sounds delicioso ! We always go out of town to my family.
I usually bake a quick dessert just not to arrive empty handed, but my family does most of the cooking n baking.
-
No, No, we never go out to dinner for thanksgiving or christmas, those two holidays are for getting together with family and friends and cooking cookies for the kids and just enjoying each other company
-
I've gone out for Thanksgiving dinner once, it was strange but nice not having to clean up or cook anything! I would love to do it again, just to avoid the chore, but haven't yet. All I am usually in charge of is desserts.
-
I used to go out to dinner on Christmas when I was still in a relationship. My entire family goes on vacation over Christmas and my daughter is usually with her Dad. Last year, a friend invited me over instead. I eat with my family for Thanksgiving.
-
I mostly have a turkey sandwich on Thanksgiving and probably the same on Christmas.
-
I don't I going to a lady that I know in Ogden,Utah .this year
-
Nope ... my family always does the traditional dinner at home (well at my sister's house) .. doesn't feel like a family event if you are at a restaurant
-
On Thanksgiving we always cook our food cos family is coming but on Christmas, we do have a date with my hubby.
-
We don't go out to eat for either Thanksgiving nor Christmas. 2 of Our 3 girls and their families come to our house; I cook for 2 days in preparation for these holidays. We have lots of food, lots of conversation and lots of fun!
-
No we cook and eat at home for both holidays!
-
I go to friends house or stay at home because the price is too high to enjoy the meal
-
For the holidays, my family and I would go to someone's house and have dinner. We do this because we can relax and be together and pig out all day and not have to worry about staying at a table too long or being hungry again late at night.
-
I cooked for many years but now live in a community that has a community meal on both holidays. It is great to share the meal with neighbors. The only bad part is - no leftovers!!!!!!!
-
No, we've never went out for dinner on holidays and don't intend to. Everything is better homemade. Besides our family is too large for all of us to go to a restaurant.
-
We have a family night at home so we usually don't go out on Thanksgiving and Christmas night.
-
No, we get together with other family - Thanksgiving is usually at my sister's, and Christmas is at my house. We all contribute food so it's not too hard on any one person. We usually have anywhere from 15-20 people.
-
Never have and haven't ever thought about it either. Maybe if I didn't have family around I might consider, but when I have family, we always celebrate together in a generally potluck style. Going out doesn't seem as intimate/touching.
