Title: Divorce stigma
Post by: batmobile on October 14, 2014, 10:49:47 pm
Anybody been divorced twice? It seems a more common thing these days... Yet, still a social stigma... And it doesn't seen to make any if us smarter about relationships.... Scary how some people change after marriage too...

My husband was divorced twice. He got married too young the first time and married too soon after he got out of the service. But we have been married 19 years and together 26 so I would say he grew up and changed.

I have to admit:  I know so many who are divorced that I never give it a second thought.

My views on this topic have changed over the years. When I was young I used to feel it was so sad when married couples split up and got divorced. It would make me feel really low and depressed. Then when I reached adulthood, I got married at 26 and stayed married for 9 years before realizing I was as unhappy as sin. When we got married we wanted the same things but over the years, I changed my mind on what I wanted out of life. So I decided to get a divorce which, now that I am 46, can see that this was the best thing I ever did. Since then, I have remarried (for 11 years) and got two wonderful sons, 8 and 10, and I couldn't be happier. So, there is life after divorce.

I have been married a couple of times and swore after the second one never again. Well never say never. Hubby and I have been married almost 21 years. The family love him and my son loved him like a father.  He has never touched me in anger ,drink or just to be mean. I at one time felt all men were nasty. But God showed me a different kind man.
