So as a college student I have such a hard time deciding what to buy...To save i buy things that would last me longer and i've become a "vegetarian" 4 days a week.
This is mainly because I cant afford it, and i feel some what guilty when i but too much.
On average how much would you spend on groceries for yourself? Not a complete household but as an individual?
-
On average, mostly vegetarian and making alot of things from scratch & using coupons, buying from store ads as well. Trying to $AVE as much as possible. I usually spend $30 a week.
-
With a family of 4 usually $150 a week. I do watch sales ads and compare shop.
-
First of all, you are better off being a vegetarian anyway. You will be healthier in the long run. So don't knock it. Personally I too buy lots of fruits and vegetables just for myself rather than meat. So you are definitely on the right track!

I should start doing that. Unfortunately I don't have so many store options.

Around $200 or $215 a month is my budget
-
I spend about 350 a month, for the 2 of us, but that also includes some medical supplies for me and vitamins for both. I rarely buy prepared food and when I cook with meat I also make enough for a couple of left over meals. We do eat a lot of veggies with it. My biggest problem is don't care a lot for beef and hubby really likes it. So now we split the cooking between different meats, as long as he gets beef a couple times a week, best of both worlds.

about 300 to 400

For a family of two (like mine), I would say $100 per week. Don't ask, LOL.

I only spend about $20/week for my lunch $1 meals for work and a package of variety oatmeal. Throw in somejuice and that is about it. However I can spend that much on just munchies for Sunday football. What to do. Prices just keep rising.

Go hit up the 99 cent only store, they sell nice produce & items cheap. You can feed yourself quite well there. They even sell organic.
If you want to put meat into your dishes, Walmart & Sam's Club sell Chicken *bleep* for $1.99/$1.88 a pound, which is cheap. 5 lbs of chicken for less than $10.00
If you are a starving student eating Ramen, add vegetables & a scambled raw egg to it, it will be slightly more nutritious & still cheap.
You can eat well for $25 dollars a week if you know where to shop.
-
For the two of us we spend $500 a month.
-
For the two of us it averages somewhere between $75.00 to $100.00 per week.
-
being single I spend about
35 a week
-
On average I would spend $80 per week on groceries. However, I try my best to find coupons and deals :)

-
with just me and husband i usually average between 80-100 a week..that's all i can budget in for the moment
-
We spend too much on groceries, since my daugther and her family moved in we spend an average of $200.00
-
We probably spend $400-$500 a month. We're really bad about small trips.
-
I don't spent all that much, but I never do "big" shopping trips. I go once a week or so and just pick up whatever I am out of. For my daughter and I, I think I am usually under $200 a month.
-
Usually $100 a week
-
I average around $100 - $125 a week for a family of four. The meat prices alone makes grocery shopping expensive.
-
I realize i spend about $50 biweekly.
-
For a family of four, we spend about $160 to $180 a week.
-
I don't know cause I don't really do the shopping. Honestly it depends on what you buy. Premade stuff will cost you, but if you have the time to make stuff, then you can work on saving more money. I'll make enchiladas which can cost about $20 in total for all the ingredients, but I have enough for maybe 12 servings, so if you cut it down to a one serving size, it isn't that bad cost wise.
The best thing to do is plan out what you want to make and figure out other things to do with the ingredients. Like, I use onions a lot. One onion can easily be split across 4 recipes to reduce the left overs like 1/4 for enchiladas, fajitas, sweet and sour chicken, and spaghetti. Granted, onions don't cost a lot, but all those left overs can be a pain if you don't have a good way to store them. Plus, after the 4th day of something, sometimes you begin to hate it.
If you do a lot of planning to maximize what you are buying across multiple meals, I'm sure keeping costs low wouldn't be too difficult. And, of course, coupons and deals would also make things easier.
-
Well if I am eating whatever i want to in a month i spend close to 500 dollars at walmart on better months though its closer to 350 :)
-
I think on average I spend about 150 a week on the two of us. But, we also eat out a lot!
-
Well since I buy for 5, it's hard to say how much per person. We spend 500 or so a month.
-
There are only two of us but we don't have cash to pay for groceries but we do qualify for Food Stamps and I Spend $301.00 a month for two people so I guess if you divide that up it is $150.50 a month on each of us. That would of been about $37.63 a week for just one person.
-
It's me and my two kids and it's usually about $140.00 every two weeks. It can be more when I buy meats and stuff like that. I wish they had more coupons out there.
