What is the best way to get a lady to know you at the first approch and get her phone number and what to talk about on the first phone call or date?

Good question - I think the simplest most honest approach possible. I am wanting to start back dating after the death of my husband 1 1/2 years ago and I think if some man at the grocery store just said hey you have beautiful hair would you be interested in having a cup of coffee sometime.....I would be accepting of that. I was married 34 years so it is hard for me to say at this point lol. Good luck to us both.

Cheesy pick up lines do not get it. If you say you have beautiful eyes or hair or something like that and are genuine in it then that is just fine.

I've never been "picked up" before. Met my ex's through others and so small interactions were a regular thing. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving to much personal information out to anyone. If a gentleman approached me with casual conversation and asked if I'd like to go for a cup of coffee or something sometime I would thank and say no thanks.... course I've met my soul mate so I'm going to answer that way. I really don't know what the proper way of asking is these days.
