Title: do you have cable or sattelite
Post by: aggie49 on November 11, 2014, 06:53:35 pm: we have cable but used to have satelite and every time it rained or windy the sattleite would go out so we switch to cable

If it continues to increase in price for the basic monthly service, we will have it turned off and go back to an antenna even though we wouldn't be able to get but 3-4 channels. Our basic cable runs us $73/month and most of the time you still can't find anything decent to watch.

We also have trouble when it rains - the screen gets blurry and it is impossible to hear what the people on TV are saying. But overall, this arrangement meets our needs because we watch very little TV to being with, mostly just news programming.

I hate it that we pay so much money for just a few shows we watch. If it weren't for the sports for my husband, we would cancel it. (BTW, devideddi, DirecTV IS satellite.)

We had dish network for many years but we got a better offer from Direct TV and we have the Genie which is great but it seems my bill goes up every few months and its getting harder to keep it. It makes no since plus the guy who signed us up said our discount was for two years wrong one year. Why does it have to be so expensive. They told me that my package with dish would be cheaper with them they where right but only for a year.

Post by: lywb2168 on November 14, 2014, 06:10:42 am: I have Verizon FIOs bundle, hate the price but like most of the service, I hate to waste so much money but we cannot be without TV, got Dish once, service was HORRIBLE customer service sucked and every time it rained or the wind got stronger than 10 miles it would go out, I got offered 1 thing and the gave me something totally different, I broke the contract and happily paid the $350 to do so and WILL NEVER GO BACK to either them or Direct, rather pay the high fees from FIOS.

I dropped cable and bought a Roku to stick in the HDMI port on my TV for a one time $50 and now my rate never goes up.

It's ridiculous how often the signal gets lost, but when the weather is really bad I can't expect it to come through completely clear. The company I have service with now at least has a better strength and consistency than the last company.

I have been trying to cut down on cost and would love to eliminate my cable bill or reduce this if I could, but I got family members who have their particular channels / shows and I don't really have much alternatives at the moment.

We got rid of satellite. We subscribe to fiber optic cable. Satellite went out during storms. Fiber optic cable is better.
