They have had that in effect in my state for a long time. I had to take the written and driving test and I have been driving for 15 years.

I think it is a great law. Kids these days don't pay enough attention to what they are doing. There have been too many accidents with teens. Just so you know, I am from CA.

Seems a bit harsh. I do think our driver's license test in the US (at least where I live) are way too easy. I don't have too much of a problem with the requirement of actually driving on roads for the driving test, although that could potentially lead to not so great things...sending people who aren't qualified and may fail the test onto the public roads could lead to some disaster.
The no person's under 21 is silly. I understand if you limit the number of people; for instance, in Kentucky I think it's no more than two people (excluding family members) under 21 until you've had your license for over a year or something. I think that's reasonable. But outlawing ALL passengers under 21 is fairly exaggerated.

here in florida the test is way to easy. it was absolutely effortless and i aced it. its no wonder why people suck at driving down here, they hand em out like candy at halloween. also all the old people that shouldnt be on the road

i think it is a good law to,, i no i have 3 teenagers and it costs like 278 dollars to get the drivers training through school , but if you wait till they are 18 it is only like 48 dollars. my kids are waiting till they are 18..

I think this is a good law to have. Once you become an old fogie like me (I am 32!), you realize that 16 is really young for people to take on such a huge responsibility as driving!! Sixteen-year-olds are still babies! I have an almost 16-year-old stepson and it's hard for me to grasp the fact that he will be driving next year.

I got my license when I was 17, and had to do the driving test. I also went through a drivers ed course, but still had an accident soon after I had my license. I didn't drive again til I was 21, I think that the driving age should be raised to 18, but I guess it's easier to say that when you're 25.

I have to admit I've lost track of the driving requirements nowadays here in MI. I know that kids have to do more now to get their licenses than they did when I was 16. (I'm now 36) But I am totally in favor of having more requirements/restrictions for younger drivers as I have seen way too many young drivers die in accidents over the years. I used to teach in a public school and we went through a stretch where something like 10 kids were killed over a 7-8 year stretch. Not all were auto accidents, but most of them were.

In Australia it takes years for teenagers to be able to drive by themselves they start out with their Learners permit that requires a full licensed adult to drive with them for 12 mths then they progress on to their P's stage the first 12 mths is on their red P's they have a curfew and are not able to drive with passangers in the car after a certain time at night then they drive on their green P's for another 12 mths then they go onto a full license It is supposed to give them more experince driving I think its fantastic cause the death rate of teens is unbelieveable

Most places in the US have stages like this; only difference being they last a shorter amount of time (usually 6 months for each stage).

The most accidents among teenagers occur when they're 17.
