I had trouble falling asleep last night. I was coughing and coughing. I took an over the counter medicine for my cough but that didn't seem to help. I have always heard that honey is good for a cough. So I got out of bed, took 2 teaspoons of honey and went back to bed. It did help as my coughing stopped and I was able to finally fall asleep. Sometimes home remedies are better than modern medicine.

Someone at work told me a home remedy for coughs. I have never tried it and it sounds crazy but I looked it up online and some people swear by it. They put Vicks Vapor rub on there feet. Any one ever heard of that? Like I said I know it sounds crazy but a lot of people seem to do it. Lol.

honey and lemon is a good remedy for cough. also if you have a local honey that's even better.

I've used the Vicks on feet for nighttime coughing a few times & it worked!! I also like warming a metal spoon in hot water & then pouring raw honey (Ambosia brand from Walmart) onto the spoon for a minute (it warms the honey without destroying nutrients). It's really soothing for a sore throat too.

If I called the doctor every time I began to cough I'd be on the phone constantly with him. I can 't be running to him everytime I have an asthma attack. I just self medicate my self with what ever will work.

I've heard cough suppressors aren't good for you. You're keeping in what your body is trying to get out, but I do understand wanting it to stop so you can sleep.

I'm glad it helped you! I give my son warm tea with honey to help ease a sore throat when he has one. It works wonders!

When I have a cough I chew gum or a cough drop keeping your throat moist helps. My bf's mother told me years ago when you have a sore throat or cough keep your throat warm by keeping a scarf around it. I always do this I even sleep with a scarf on. I make sure my throat stays warm and moist and it helps.
