This does not "happen so much at Walmart". This was just an accident brought on by stupidity. If you own a gun you need to teach your kids not to touch them. The story seems unclear. Some say he pulled the gun out and pulled the trigger and shot her and others say he pulled the gun out and it just somehow discharged.
Nothing happens at Walmart that doesn't happen any where else. Walmart is just the most popular so there are more people there and the media likes to tell stories about Walmart. It is getting til I don't even want to read the headlines on Yahoo because they make crap up and mislead people with the head lines.
-
I wouldn't say a lot happens at Walmart and if it does, it's only because there are a lot of Walmarts and they are very popular places. It is a shame though that this little kiddy pulled the loaded gun out of his mum's purse and whether it just went off or he pulled the trigger, it was the mum's responsibililty. She apparently had a permit to carry a concealed weapon so must have been knowledgeable. I think it was lapse in judgement on her part.

The sad part is this kid will grow up knowing HE killed his mom. No matter how it came to be the gun was in HIS hand. I thought it said she had about 5 kids with her. Young to have that many kids already but that is another story. Going to be hard for the siblings to not blame him as well as he blame himself. It would not surprise me if we hear one day that he has taken his own life. Would be a LOT to live with. I read somewhere in comments on the news story that they "hoped he would be able to forget it". HOW could you forget your mom dying and more than that how could you forget she was killed by a gun that was in your hand?
People don't want to punish their kids and the result is kids that do not listen and do whatever they want to do. There was a kid in Lowe's a few weeks ago screaming *bleep* murder and kicking and smacking at his parents because he was told NO to a flash light that was near the register. His parents excuse his behavior saying "oh he is just tired". I am thinking "NO he is a little hellion that will only get worse because YOU refuse to raise him right" Then the cashier gives him a piece of candy to reward his bad behavior. It is no wonder our world has gone to hell. Smh.
Penwoir- Yes, she had a permit but that does not mean she was knowledgeable. She should have known better. Most people who do something stupid should know better. But most people seem to live in a bubble and float thru life thinking "nothing can happen to me". People are careless. It sounds bad to say but honestly, I am glad SHE is the one who was shot and killed instead of an innocent person shopping in the same area.

that's so sad!

Whats a 2 year old doing near a gun anyway? I'm sorry but i doubt he brought it to the store. Sad that he killed his mom but not his fault
-
I blame the mom in this tragic accident. The gun should not have been in her purse within the child's reach. A 2 yr. old in fact. She should have had it on her body in a protective holder. Now this child will forever feel guilty because of some ones neglect. Having raised boys and them having been around guns all of their life, not one time were they able to get too one. Until they were old enough to understand what a gun is used for and how to be safe. Both took hunter safety courses from the time they were old enough. I believe in being able to protect yourself and your family. But people need to use common sense when they have a gun.
-
Don't you wonder how that is even possible. What was she doing with a loaded gun in her purse. So weird.

That is a sad news

A lot happens at Walmart because there are so many and so many people go in and out of there. A very sad situation, the article I read said the baby was her child the rest were friends or relatives. A very tragic story for everyone concerned, victim, children and the rest of the families.
-
I agree, this was such a sad story. Although the mom had a gun permit, why would she carry the gun in a purse near her little one? She should've kept it in her glove compartment or at home. And also, the mom should've kept a closer eye on her child. Her purse should've been on her shoulder. I think there was another child nearby, but yes, this is so sad....I feel really bad for this family.
-
Tragic story the mother was clearly at fault. The kid will be scared for life but right now he woudlnt know what anyone would be talking about if they told him he killed his mother now. But when hes old enough damn this is probably going to hit hard
-
What I don't understand is if the mother had the gun in her purse, didn't she have the purse closed while in a store? I don't have a gun in my purse, but when I go into a store I always zip it closed. And if it was closed, did she not feel her child opening it and feeling through it for the gun? I think I would be aware if someone put their hand in my purse and was feeling around in it. Just saying.....

That sounds so scary and sad at the same time!

For the most part people lack the notion of right and wrong. Thereby causing. all these tragic things to happen.
-
I just read that story yesterday. Such a sad story. Even though the child is two, I can't imagine what his years of growing up will be like. I don't understand why the mom had the gun in her purse and had the purse within reach of the two-year-old. I pray for that family.

Yes indeed, this is a very sad story it could have happen anywhere not just Walmart.

Yea, that was sad!

Most people spend a percentage of their lives in Walmart...things are going to happen. I love Walmart and when I hear stories like the 2 year old child....I feel it could have happened anywhere.
-
no I didn't hear of the tradigy in walmart. hw sad.

i work at walmart. there is always something happening at my store but there has never been a shooting. :)

No.That is so tragic. I find it hard to find reasons for such behavior. How can we keep our youth more innocent of such brutality. I blame social media for making their reality no longer a face-to-face world. But yet they can reach the world with the push of a button. Less than 60 seconds. But we can't go back and the increase in technology makes evverything speedier.

I think it was K-Mart where a black child was killed because he was playing with a toy gun. That's the norm though here in America, shoot first, ask questions later I guess.
-
How sad. I wonder what it will be like when he is older and is told your mother is dead because you shot her when you were two. How awful.

It is not weird. People every where have guns for protection.

Yeah it's gonna do a lot of good in the glove box in the car if she needs it. There was nothing wrong with her carrying the gun and carrying in her purse which had a special compartment for the gun. She should have made more effort to teach her child not to touch the gun. The story is not clear. Some are saying he grabbed it and pulled the trigger and others are saying he grabbed the purse and the gun went off. I am not sure how anybody knows for sure unless they watch security video because from what I have read there were not witnesses just people who I guess ran over after the gun fired.

If the purse was in the buggy how would she "feel" him with his hand in it. And fyi I do not keep my purse zipped when I am in a store. Most people don't.

It was not a "TOY" gun. It was an air rifle. And the cop told him to PUT THE GUN DOWN and he ignored him. I saw a toy gun at Walmart this Christmas season. I swear it looked like a real 45. If a kid or whomever points that exact gun at me they will get shot with a real gun. And I don't think it was a "KID" but more like an 18 year old. Old enough to know when a cop tells you to do something you do it. I will also admit the 911 call reporting the teen with the air rifle was totally bogus. And the guy who made the calls should be arrested. He said the teen was pointing the gun at people and I think even said he had fired it. If a cop gets dispatched to a call with a teen firing a gun inside of Walmart and the cop goes into the store and sees a teen with a gun (and he cannot tell it is an air rifle) and he tells him to put it down and he ignores it and continues to swing it around common sense should tell you the outcome will be a bullet in a vital organ.

:sad1: So tragic - I think that is so terrible and hope it won't scar him for life as he is just a baby but its hard to imagine that it won't. I feel really bad for that family all the way around and such a young mom. And yes, it does seem like something is always happening at Wal-Mart. :confused1:

alot of crazy stuff happens at walmart,,,,,,,,,,, :monkey:

Mostly because A LOT of people go there... The more people, the more likely something is going to go down one day
