Do you walk or run for exercise? If so, how much do you do in a week? I try to do a walk/jog combo for 2.5 miles three times a week for a total of 7.5 miles, but don't always reach that goal due to bad weather stopping me from doing it.
-
I walk when I do exercise I cannot run.
-
I run. I need my exercise to be a little strenuous. A walk just does do me any justice.
-
No, I don't walk or run for exercise.
-
I like to use the treadmill at the gym. I just don't get to go as often as I would like to.
-
I go to the gym twice a week when I am not at the gym i do 2 20-30 minutes walks a day :peace: :snowflake:
-
i walk 3 times a week for exerice but i do not run unless i have to
-
we always take walks around our neighborhood in the warm weather,,, in the winter its a little cold to get outside and do a lot of walking
-
I walk every day just going to and at work, but when I can, I run for exercise!
-
My running days are over. I like to go for evening walks but now in Winter time it's more difficult to do so since it gets dark early and the temperature is colder. I am looking forward to Spring when I can go for walks more often.
-
I love running because I love cardio.
-
I'm a shame to say it, but neither. I really need to start to walk, but I'm afraid because of dogs. I once started to walk and a dog chased me about a half a block. I never went out to walk again. ;-(
-
I run for exercising. I have my own treadmill at home (which is especially convenient, given the brutal winters in upstate NY). I tend to run on weekends for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
-
I try and walk at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes, in the winter I go to the gym and just go my laps around the gym track, but in the summer I like to do outside sometimes.
-
I like to walk!
-
I worked out faithfully for 2.5 years and felt and looked great! I quit when a life event interfered and now I can tell I'm out of shape, with endurance and strength lacking. I will start again this next week, slowly working up to where I was again...I hope! I like a gym in the winter and summer and circuit training worked for me before and I will be doing it again.
The main thing is to train yourself to get into the habit the first month, going 3-4 times each week. After about a month, your body and mind begins to expect and want it. Just have to start.........
-
I did jog years ago, and when I walk it was always 8 miles per day. Having knee problems now so can't do my fitness walk. I ride my stationary bike now with a combo of free weights lifting.
-
That's dynamite 8)
-
I'm a runner and train all year for 5k's and 10k's and eventually a half marathon. On average I will run 3-7 miles per run which is about 3-6 times a week, that depends on how I feel. I usually walk a little after running as a cool down. I feel like if I just walked, it wouldn't do me justice. I have to sweat and sweat a lot   to feel like I've accomplished something for some weird reason...Lol :-[
Anyways, it is always good to do a walk/run/walk/run combo when starting or when building your endurance to become a runner. I would start out with a 5 minute combo of walking and light jogging and add 5 minutes a week until you can run for 30 minutes or longer. Always stretch afterwards! :glasses-nerdy:
Good Luck! :clover:
:peace: & ~workmama~ :moon: :rainbow:

I'm a runner! However, I am getting older and my knees can't take to much, and just thinking about it, I can't breath when I run. I feel like my head is going to explode, and my knees are going to fall off. My muscles cramp up and I feel fire in my throat.
What's wrong with me... the more I run the feel like I am getting closer to death.
I have walked to much in new mexico tile floors. they ruin my feet. "I still love to run"
-
I like to walk.
-
Walking is my favorite exercise. Running takes too much energy from me.
-
I like to walk. Thank You!
-
Unless you walk for a really long time, it's probably better to run- more effecient and more of a workout, especially if you're sometimes limited by time or weather. If you're just trying to stay fit, it probably doesn't matter. If you're trying to improve, running will be more challenging and show more results probably.
-
I've done both in past years and my favorite is jogging. However I'm out of shape now and would need to start with walking again. In the past I built my jogs up to 6.5 miles. I would love to get into that pattern again. I'm so scared of getting attacked by a coyote out where I live now so I've been making excuses for not getting into a routine again.
-
I like to walk for exercise. About the only time you would see me running would be if someone or something was chasing me.
-
Mostly walking as I walk my dogs in the mornings. When I have time, running on the treadmill.
-
I walk 5 days a week. During the cold weather I go to the gym. During nice weather I walk outside.
I do 2-5 miles. I never run because I don't want to die.
-
I usually try to walk 3 days a week for 30 minutes. In the winter, I walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes or more. During the summer, I normally go to the park and walk a couple laps. If the weather is rainy outside, I'll walk on my treadmill.
-
My version of walking is taking the dog out for his walk .. lol
-
I like to walk often.
-
i just walk runnings to hard on my joints now
-
Brisky walking is safer than running. If bad weather gets on your way of getting some exercise, try walking inside big shopping malls, where there is no ice, snow or rain.
-
When I was able to walk I walked 3miles 7 days a week I lost 125pds best exercise around but broke my broke my back In 2pls in a car wreck so I can no longer walk
-
I'm trying to get in the habit of walking for at least 20 mins each day. It's difficult for me because of several health issues, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I'm hoping I'll be able to increase the time later, as well.
-
I walk the same as you but set the goal to start running when the weather gets nicer this spring.
-
I guess it would be walk. 3 miles + a week
-
In my younger days, I used to run about two miles a day. Now that I am approaching 60, I have slowed down to regular walks that a generally a mile to a mile and a half, every other day.
-
I Love to walk I love to run but now I mostly sit.
-
I like to walk for exercise and do other things, then I go to the gym to get on the treadmill. I like going to the gym to get plenty more of exercise.
-
I like to walk, too old and out of shape to try to run!
-
I walk around my neighborhood. 5 times around is a mile, and I try to do that.
I'm with gaylasue about the running, though.
If you see me running, you might wanna run too, cause something baaaad is coming! :D
-
My running days are over, I walk with a walker, I have MS and don't want to overtax myself.
-
I walk but do hope to one day step it up to running.
-
I walk so much at work that I really don't have time to exercise!

But we dont do anything to crazy sometimes i will do two miles but its never more than that.. I am not a runner. I dont like running, especially with the stroller i find it hard lol well thats my excuse for not doing it :P
-
I'm a little bit worried about running or walking outside because I hear so many bad stories about people being kidnapped, robbed or worse. So this Christmas I decided to buy myself a treadmill. It's only a cheap, manual version but it enables me to walk or run at my pace whilst in the safety of my own home. I wish I had made this move many months ago.
-
The older I get the less I run, walking is a lot better on my sore knees
-
Me and my husband walk with the pug every night as long as its not that cold.
-
I basically walk. I cannot run like I used to. And besides I do smoke and that is something I am looking to give up.
-
Run like twice a week
-
I like to go to the track at my kids school and walk the track...I don't keep up with how long I walk just go so the kids can play on play ground and I walk the track
-
Unfortunately because of street harassment, I do neither...I wish I owned a treadmill. :(
-
Run definitely. I love running and competing in races.
-
walk, I actually took a walk today the first time in a long time-it feels good; and hopefully I'll get a good nights sleep.
-
No more running for me. I walk now.
-
I mostly walk!

-

-
i dont relly do either but id perfer walking....... :rainbow:
-
I walk first just to warm up about 20 mins then I start jogging, then running.
-
I have read that walking is the best all-around exercise for cardio and general conditioning. Running tends to wear on your joints.
-
I usually like to run, but if it's too cold out there, I may just walk instead.
-
I only walk to work every day..only takes 5 min to get there...don't run for fun. For exercise, I do tai chi 2x a week... probably should do more though.
-
walk is fine if u do it three or more time a weak
-
when it gets a little warmer I plan on running every day I need to start working out again since I stopped when I graduated high school I'm now 27. It's long overdue lol
-
I prefer walking or fitness walking. My knee doesn't allow me to run/jog anymore.
-
I walk, cannot run, but I go to the gym now so I do the 30 minute thing.
-
I know I should walk I just haven't gotten to it. :(
-
I like running, it made my blood circulates faster than walking.
-
I try to run outside when I can, but it's hard in the winter when it's colder...since I don't like to run on treadmills, this leads to a lot of walking and stationary biking....
-
I like the walk/jog combo like you do but I just started doing it like that since my heart attack. I pay close attention to my heart rate and that determines when I walk and when I jog. I generally go by time and/or feel rather than by distance.
