Forgiveness...
“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.”

Very true Sherry!! I have a friend (co-worker) who I thought was a friend until she lied to me and used me and my son. I told her in a stern, loving way..."I love you and care for you and always will, and you have crossed lines with me too many times. Although I forgive you, I cannot trust you like I used to." She cried and I went on my merry way. Boy does she regret the hurt she caused me, but I bet ya she is hurting 10 times worse for hearing my words to her!

That's true the desire to inflict hurt upon others is vengeance not forgiveness, forgiveness is a choice that's instant. It's the healing process that requires time. Take time to heal, get past the hurt or you'll keep hurting the individual and others as well.

Don't wait to forgive until you feel like forgiving; you will never get there. Feelings take time to heal after the choice to forgive is made.

Forgiveness, REAL forgiveness, isn't about the one being forgiven. It's about the one that needs to forgive.
―Ken Gostcho
Forgiveness is not a one off decision; it is a journey and a process that takes time, determination, and persistence. Forgiveness is not forgetting; it is simply denying your pain the right to control your life.
―Corallie Buchanan
Of all things we mortals are called upon to do, the most difficult is forgiveness; in order to truly do it, you will probably have to behave as if you already have forgiven for quite a while before you have actually done so.
―Marion Zimmer Bradley
