Shouldn't this be posted in the "Debate & Discuss" part of the forums?

For the question, I'm an atheist. Just like most of you who don't believe in other religion's gods, except I go just one step further. :P

Psalm 14:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
14   1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.  2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

Question: "What does the Bible mean when it says “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’”?"

Answer: Both Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 read, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Some take these verses to mean that atheists are stupid, i.e., lacking intelligence. However, that is not the only meaning of the Hebrew word translated “fool.” In this text, the Hebrew word is nabal, which often refers to an impious person who has no perception of ethical or religious truth. The meaning of the text is not “unintelligent people do not believe in God.” Rather, the meaning of the text is “sinful people do not believe in God.” In other words, it is a wicked thing to deny God, and a denial of God is often accompanied by a wicked lifestyle. The verse goes on to list some other characteristics of the irreligious: “They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; / there is no one who does good.” Psalm 14 is a study on the universal depravity of mankind.

Many atheists are very intelligent. It is not intelligence, or a lack thereof, that leads a person to reject belief in God. It is a lack of righteousness that leads a person to reject belief in God. Many people do not object to the idea of a Creator, as long as that Creator minds His own business and leaves them alone. What people reject is the idea of a Creator who demands morality from His creation. Rather than struggle against a guilty conscience, some people reject the idea of God altogether. Psalm 14:1 calls this type of person a “fool.”

Psalm 14:1 says that denying God’s existence is commonly based on a desire to lead a wicked life. Several prominent atheists have admitted the truth of this. One famous atheist, when asked what he hopes to accomplish through atheism, declared that he wants “to drink as much alcohol and have sex with as many women as possible.” Belief in a divine Being is accompanied by a sense of accountability to that Being. So, to escape the condemnation of conscience, which itself was created by God, some simply deny the existence of God. They tell themselves, “There is no overseer of the world. There is no Judgment Day. I can live as I please.” The moral pull of the conscience is thus more easily ignored.

Trying to convince oneself there is no God is unwise. The point of “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’” is that it is an impious, sinful heart that will deny God. The atheist’s denial flies in the face of much evidence to the contrary, including his own conscience and the universe he lives in.

A lack of evidence of God’s existence is not the true reason atheists reject a belief in God. Their rejection is due to a desire to live free of the moral constraints God requires and to escape the guilt that accompanies the violation of those constraints. “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them . . . so that people are without excuse. . . . Their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. . . . Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts. . . . They exchanged the truth about God for a lie” (Romans 1:18–25).

I'm agnostic.  I can't definitively say either way with certainty, just as everybody regardless of their beliefs, can't prove with absolute certainty on e way or the other.  I'm just trying to live a good life, do the right things, I don't live as if there's a god there ever second or every day watching me but regardless of what I believe about God I think we should be good to each other in this life, respect each others beliefs and religions etc..etc.  That means allowing Christians their beliefs BUT that also means Christians you shouldn't hold other's rights back either Ex. Gay marriage, abortion, Doctor assisted suicide etc. Religious people just need to realize that there are agnostics/atheists/secular humanists who shouldn't have to submit to what Christians believe just as atheists shouldn't force their beliefs on Christians. Got me?  Peace :)

THE Bible says that although there are many who are viewed as gods, “there is actually to us one God the Father.” (1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) That “one God” is Jehovah, the Creator of all things. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Revelation 4:11) Jesus referred to him as “my God and your God.” (John 20:17) He agreed with Moses, who had earlier stated: “Jehovah is the true God; there is no other besides him.” (Deuteronomy 4:35) Jehovah is far superior to any objects of worship, such as idols, deified humans, or his enemy Satan the Devil, “the god of this system of things.” (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4) In contrast to all of these, Jehovah is, as Jesus called him, “the only true God.”—John 17:3.

First of all, you should write the name God with upper case G; not lower case. unless if you're talking about a different god with lower case g. To answer your question, yes I believe in God Almighty!! Nothing would not exist without of God existence. God exists first, then us and everything else.

I don't practice a specific religion at this time, in my life; however, I believe God exists and loves each and every one of us as his children.  When I was a child, I was raised LDS (Mormon), and every Sunday I went to church.  I was taught that "God" is my Father in Heaven and the creator of my spirit.  I was also taught that he was evolved enough to love each of us unconditionally, even though, he allows us to live our own lives, makes mistakes, and deal with the consequences of our own actions.  He loved us enough to give us free will.

I'm unable to prove that God exists and others cannot prove that he doesn't.  I view my belief, as a healthy and positive belief, so it's a keeper for me.

God bless us all.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
Maker of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial
of one Being with the Father.

Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.

He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The word god need not be capitalized when referring to Satan....

3 There is an unseen entity behind false religion. Referring to him, the apostle Paul said: “The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.” (2 Corinthians 4:4) “The god of this system of things” is none other than Satan the Devil. He is the principal promoter of false worship. “Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light,” wrote Paul. “It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15) Satan makes bad things appear good and deceives people into believing lies.

Capitalize God when referring to TRUE God.

Psalms 83;18 KJV....That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

God is a title. The scripture speaks for itself.

Your facts are YOUR facts,My research is what is in bible!Take the time and see for yourself.

God and and lord are titles.God has a name and its NOT god.Its Jehovah.Take the time to look it up.KJV Psalms 83:18.Capitalization of God is given to TRUE GOD.Satan isnt the true god thats why its NOT capitalized in bible.

Again do the research!!

In the Lords prayer Jesus said,Let your name be hallowed.

Moses asked God,who should i say sent me?God answered him by saying his name to him and what it meant.Jehovah means,"He causes to become"

The bible says that TRUE God is alpha and omega. If Jesus was God how could he have died?Silly!!Jesus was Gods begotten son directly created by Jehovah. His first creation and represented his father as we see a son even on earth do representing his father.

The title “the Alpha and the Omega” carries the same thought as “the first and the last” and “the beginning and the end” when these terms are used with reference to Jehovah. Before him there was no Almighty God, and there will be none after him. He will bring to a successful conclusion the issue over Godship, forever vindicated as the one and only Almighty God.—Compare Isa 44:6.

Acts 8:29----…29Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." 30Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" 31And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.…

Jesus and his Father, Jehovah God, are also “one” in the sense that they are in complete agreement as to intentions, standards, and values. In contrast with Satan the Devil and the first human couple, Adam and Eve, Jesus never wanted to become independent of God. “The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing,” Jesus explained. “For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”—John 5:19; 14:10; 17:8.

When Adam and Eve willfully disobeyed God by breaking the command that had been laid upon them, they in reality turned their back on the one who provided them with everything that they had. (Genesis 3:6) In so doing, they lost their beautiful Paradise home not only for themselves but also for their offspring. (Romans 5:12) Did the first couple’s disobedience thwart God’s purpose in creating the earth?
A God Who Has Not Changed
Through his prophet Malachi, God declared: “I am Jehovah; I have not changed.” (Malachi 3:6) Commenting on this verse, French Bible scholar L. Fillion observed that this declaration is closely associated with the accomplishment of divine promises. “Jehovah could have annihilated his rebellious people,” wrote Fillion, “but being unchangeable in his promises, he will, in spite of everything, be faithful to the promises he made in the past.” God’s promises, whether to an individual, a nation, or all mankind, will not be forgotten but be carried out in his due time. “He has remembered his covenant even to time indefinite, the word that he commanded, to a thousand generations.”—Psalm 105:8.

God told Adam he was going back to dust at death and also the bible says in other places death is a state of non-existence.

Jesus spoke of a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous during his 1000 yr rule.

Lazarus was dead...asleep as Jesus stated. He spoke of no hell or heavenly bliss when Jesus resurrected him!!

The soul that sins dies says scripture in Ezekiel.
