Title: Field Trips
Post by: LaKecias on January 20, 2015, 07:34:37 pm
Do anybody still go on field trips with their children after the age of 10. It's funny to me that my girls still want me to go. Don't the kids without the parents have more fun?

sounds like your girls enjoy spending time with you ,  dont worry though it probably wont last to much longer LOL
pretty soon they will  be sooo busy with their own lives and that wont last to long either  its hard being the parent and realizing that your kids dont need you so much so enjoy it while it last and realize that they will always come back

My son is 11 and we are on our way to the La museum and the Labrea tar pits with his school. Should be nice.

I loved going on field trips when my children were young. We had a ball. My kids were raised on a farm along with some of their friends. The loved going on outings with the city kids. Oh man some of the tall tales that went on in the bus between them and their friends. the city kids lapped it up. Good thing I didn't always hear every thing that was told.   One of them was how when they milked the cow and it produced chocolate milk. Of course they had to prove it and they did in a way. While one milked the other was pouring in Hershey's chocolate syrup . I just stood back with owner and laughed my fool head off. The owner was in on it.

If referring to chaperoning a group of children including my own daughter, then the last time I did that she was 12. However, my daughter still accompanies myself and siblings when we go out on vacation and road trips too. I'm cherishing the time before she feels she's too old to go with me on trips.

I work in the office of an Elementary school and in our school there is a lot of parents that actually do go to the field trip with their children. I think is's fun for both the parent and the child.

It sounds like your girls are not the least bit concerned about peer pressure or what the other kid's think.  From my point of view...

they have a very healthy attitude about their selves and their relationship with their parent.  That seems like a situation that's worth celebrating.

I quite agree with you. Both my children (boys, 8 and 10) still want me to go on field trips and what is really surprising for me, is that my sons' friends seem to want to spend time with me. The other day, I was on a field trip with my youngest son and his friend asked me if he could sit next to me on the school bus. I willingly agreed, and told my own son I would sit with him on the way home instead. However then on the way home his friend asked to sit next to me again and sadly I had to say no as as I promised to sit next to my own son. I'm 46 and overweight. I would have thought they'd want to sit next to each other!

I have never done that in ages but I think they call it vacation if they are a little bit older. LOL Other than that what sort of filed trips does your kiddos enjoy doing? I think wholesome family recreation is very healthy. I like that your family is still enjoying that!
