Title: Learn From My Mistake PLZZZZ!
Post by: killers2 on January 25, 2015, 04:26:39 pm
Hi Friends,
I come with a message that's been said to you probably a 1000 or more times.  But I'm gonna send that message out one more time!.  DO NOT get behind the wheel if you had something/too much to drink.  It is not worth it no matter what the situation is, or what you are going through!  I'm telling you this because I had a past personal DUI experience (I was an IDIOT)  I was going through a hard time and made a reckless decision.  NO EXCUSE.
I sincerely hope you won't be an idiot too! In my DUI accident nobody else was involved, and I wasn't injured.  Every single day I think about the fact that it could have been so, SO much worse, and I am not being dramatic when I say I could have taken away another human being's right to life that night.  You could call it lucky or something maybe, but I WILL NOT put myself in a situation again that requires that kind of luck.  If I had even hurt another person that would have haunted me for the rest of my life.  Some decisions CAN'T be taken back.  Remember that please friends.
For too, too many people they have to make a DUI mistake to truly understand the finality of this decision making like me :(.  Again, there may not be a second chance remember it friends.
SO..... here is my wish for you.  I don't even actually know you friends, but I care about you, I do.  Truly believe me I do.  I don't want ANYBODY to do what I did.   But I just wish you'll listen because this comes from a deep place in my heart.  When you even think about getting behind the wheel after drinking, just think about the affect you could have on ANOTHER driver's life, or anybody else in your car's life even if they tell you EX. "You're alright to drive" or any excuse. Lastly yourself, which is less important if you choose to drink and drive, but still important too.  When I made my decision to get behind the wheel I was selfish and thinking I had no self worth so it doesn't matter what I do, but now I'm in a better place, been through it and I'm saying you will get through it, and it will get better.  Even if you had low self worth like I did, just please friends think of the person's right to life you could be responsible for.  Thanks for reading.
                                                                             Never Drink and Drive Again!
Can You Take The Pledge with Me?
    :peace: :peace:

Killer we tend to get smarter and as we get older we have more experiences. So its sometimes easier to make a wiser decision as we get older and realize how foolish we were sometimes when we were younger.

You cant change the past but yo can learn from it and in some cases i think i have as i have gotten older.

Helping a younger person NOT be a fool because of you learning from your past is a good thing.

God is very forgiving. He sees our hearts better than we do ourselves. You sound like you learned a valuable lesson.Take it a step furthur and help others now!!

Thank you for sharing your story.  Unfortunatly some people will always think it won't happen to me, or I'm ok, I can hold my drinks, I'm not drunk.  Sometimes changing comes with age, but sometimes people will never learn.

Yes, thank you for sharing and as much as it was a dramatic experience, I'm glad you have learned from it and survived, and been able to share the experience with others!

This is a great message for everyone. So many people have to live with themselves for the rest of their lives, after killing innocent people due to their stupidity of drinking and driving.

We have a friend going to prison this week because he killed someone in a DUI accident 2 years ago. I'm so ashamed to say that.

I hope you learned a lesson.  I never drink and drive, maybe because I do not drink.  I am so happy you did not hurt someone else.  To God be the glory.

Think God you did not hurt anyone. I wish a drunk had learned his lesson, he hit my son, nephew and the 2 young ladies one night. He was so drunk, driving on the wrong side of the road with no headlights on. By the time the children saw him it was too late and he took al four them and him self out. I feel so bad for his children as they had to grow up knowing what their father did. so many lives were affected that night because of liquor.

I rarely drink, but I would never drink and drive.  I always make sure no one else in my family does, either.  Thankfully no one was injured in your accident.

i totally agree its not worth drinking or texing or talking on the phone while your behind the wheel i feel they need to go back to the basic phones i use mine for emergency only and if i need to use it i pull over and as far as drinking its not worth it to do this either stay at home have a designated driver or call a cab

So very true.  I know 2 people whose lives were changed due to drunk driving.  One of them lost her Mom in a head-on collision.  Of course, the drunk driver walked away unscathed.  The other, to this day, is paying for it (literally "paying" for it) for being the drunk driver.  It's a true nightmare that never goes away.  I think the laws need to be much harsher on drunk drivers than they are now.  What with all the illegals driving around in every state.  Arizona has plenty of them that are drunk drivers.  One killed a Police Officer not too far from where I live over the summer.  Slammed right into the back of his motorcycle and the dolt had his baby in the back seat!

So much better to drink at home and be responsible for your guests! Make up the couch and take away their car keys.

Wow that is a tough lesson to learn.  MOst of us have done it at least once if we are honest and it is always always always a really dumb thing to do.  So much bad can happen.  The best of which is you make it home safely but realize how very stupid you are, the worst of which is someone is hurt.  Anything inbetwen these two will definitely screw up your life or your pocketbook.  Sorry you had to learn this lesson but very glad your realize it's import and impact.  Hope I never make the mistake again.

Your are right. A few months ago I read on social media and saw on the news that a guy I knew my whole childhood was involved in a fatal drunk driving accident. He was very drunk and swerved in the wrong lane, hit and killed a woman in her 40's who was on her way home from work. Very sad story.

We hear about drinking and driving on the news all the time and it is a shame. People think that they can handle themselves but get behind the wheel and that mistake can take their own and others lives. With all the technology and apps out there that you can call a cab, get someone else to drive you, and during big events the town I live in offers free rides to your destination and will tow your car with you as well for free. There is no reason to drive drunk when you can get a free ride to your destination that is safe.

This is why I have never even put alcohol in my mouth! I guess I was lucky to grow up with good parents and I actually listened! Sorry, you had to go through that. Mistakes are apart of life. They can always teach us a valuable lesson!

Drinking and then driving is always dangerous, but many people still do it, and accidents do happen. Hope atleast one person gets the message from your post.

You know, we've all done silly things when we were younger that we'd rather not admit to. I think you are brave to admit what you've done and rather than feeling bad, I think you should feel happy that no one got hurt. Just as you are doing, use your strength of opinions now to tell your story so that others will adopt the pledge. We can't change our past but we can change our futures. I admire your honesty.

I'll take the pledge with you and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn via other people's mistakes so I won't have to learn the hard way.  I rarely drink.  Maybe on New Years Eve but if I do that I'll pay a taxi driver to haul me around.

Thanks for your honesty and for learning before any damage was done.

It really is too bad that people who have been drinking keep thinking they can get away with driving "just this once" with tragic consequences. I am so glad to hear you didn't have terrible consequences when you drank and drove, and also that you don't intend to ever do that again so long as you live.
