Title: giving directions
Post by: Gerianne on March 12, 2015, 07:14:25 am
Sometimes, I am not very good at it. The other day, I thought a restaurant we went to a couple years ago was on a certain street when it was one block away on the previous street. We met the letter carrier and she steered us the right direction. The menu had changed. They used to serve a light fare at lunch and switched to a main meal menu. It is healthier to eat a main meal in midday. ....great for business men. They didn't have any veggies available for us and substituted a grapefruit for a pear for one of their lunch salads. I wanted a pear.oh well. It was the first time for one of my relatives and he loved it.

I am not real good at North-south. I prefer right or left. I am sure they came up with GPS. It is a life saver. When you are travelling, it is great to have. Making a wrong turn, you don't get lost finding your way back to where you were. Sometimes they do take you the long way around. BMaston12

I feel bad when I give people wrong directions in a train... A lot of commuters will approach me when I board the train and ask me where this train is going... Sometimes the train is local or express and I just only know if tht train stops in my train station. Usually a 50/50 call, but I just say I don't know

Im not good at giving directions, Ive been asked before by people how to get someplace, and I tell them I dont know, as I dont know street names etc. When I go somewhere I dont pay attention to road signs, I just know how to drive there, but afraid I will get someone good and lost so dont give directions

I really get distressed when someone gives me directions to their home and they are "way" off!

Sometimes people call at work and ask for directions to our store and the majority of the time I have to pass the phone to someone else. Lol.

I am very directionally disfunctional even with a GPS!  I am one who has to have definite landmarks to be able to find a place (and then hope I can find my way back out!).

I as never good at following or giving directions. As a matter of fact I always need a co-pilot with me when I drive.

I am not good at giving directions, I will get you lost for sure.  The last time someone asked me for directions I just told her to follow me lol

I'm also not good at receiving directions and I'm way too dependent on my GPS but last week I challenged myself to make it to my new home without the GPS and I was successful!

I generally don't have to give directions. If I'm back home and trying to meet up with friends or family I give them landmarks and let them figure it out.

Directions here in Denver are thankfully pretty easy because the mountains are west.

In your defense, sometimes the GPS is very confusing; "keep left, then keep right" but the screen shows straight arrows.  My GPS has even tried to take me down a one way, even after I updated it.

I have a dedicated GPS and GPS capabilities on my smartphone. At one time I use to worry I got to self reliant with this. Then I began using Google map more and try memorization and I think I'm getting back to becoming a relatively decent navigator. Of course on Google map it drives me crazy with the newer layout.
