I'm so annoyed with the IRS!! They have not given me an update on my refund status and tomorrow marks 21 days! I pray I get the money by tomorrow because I was counting on it to use to schedule a vacation. If I owed money I bet they would want it right away! This is the longest I waited for my refund. I did my ex husbands the same day and he got his already and my son got his within 5 days!!! Some thing does not add up! I am a first year tax professional for H&R Block and did my taxes on their software. I read that they are having budget cuts, etc. and this is delaying the process of tax payers returns. What the heck does their budget have to do with us? So frustrating!!

Isn't there a number or website that you can use to check the status of your refund? I thought I remember reading there was one. Good luck and hope you get your momey soon.

So here's an update: I go onto the IRS website to "Where's my Refund" and it gives me more details why they are holding my refund, now there is a deposit date and they adjusted my refund and keeping $250 because they said I incorrectly made an error on one of the lines on form 5405, which is the 1st time home buyers form. I repay $500 every year since 2010 and will continue to repay this amount until 2025. YUCK! I know but it is what it is. So where was the error when I made sure to add the $500 back to the IRS which lowers my refund due to this. They really stink! Just because they have budget cuts and hardly any employees left I have to suffer due to their incompetence? Wait until I get this letter from them, they will hear a mouth full from me!

You are the only person I have heard say they have had to wait a long time for their refund. Professional or not maybe there is a mistake somewhere. Idk. I got mine within a few days as well as everyone else I know.

I'm assuming you purchased your home in 2008 if you have to pay it back, correct? Unless you sold it, you wouldn't even need to file Form 5405.

Yes, the irs is holding every taxpayers refund.

No they aren't. They did not hold mine. Nor my parents, brother, grandparents, cousin, or anybody else I know. Every one I know has gotten their refund fairly quickly. Now if you waited til April 15th to file that may be a different story. I filed as soon as I had all the paperwork I needed. I have never understood why people wait til the last minute. And when you take into consideration all the millions of people who do that and all the returns they get at the same time of course it will take longer to get your refund back. I got mine back in just a few days.

I finally got mines back took forever thoug

I got mine in a timely manner. I did not have to wait that long. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

Yes sometimes they do hold up the return, but eventually we get it back ...so just wait and wait n stay calm

Another Update: I was RIGHT and the IRS was WRONG and are truly a disgrace! I called on April 14th and was routed about 5 times to finally a REAL person and I was very polite and very confident that I did not make an error since I am a professional tax preparer. The woman at the IRS was very apologetic and could not figure out why they said I made an error and they are going to credit me my $250 BUT I will receive it as a check. I was inconvenienced for NO reason because they are cutting their budgets and laying off workers. That is not my problem! So the moral to the story kids... don't work so the IRS can't take your money! LOL!! ::)

no refund, I had to pay in. Paying in next year too..
-
Haven't got mine yet as I filed a little later than usual. My refund came quick last year so here's hoping it does the same this year.
-
I got my money back in 10 days.
-
Heeheehee. We did not have to pay any this year because the people buying our house paid it off and we are paying on a mortgage. squeaked by on this one also because of all of my medical test that were paid for.
-
Never have had this issues, I always get refund right away, this year we had to pay but that is just because I lost my daughter as a dependent and my husband ned it to adjust his tax deductions and did not but never have gotten my refund hold
-
I wish I was getting a tax refund to anxiously await....

Wow that sucks i hope you got it finally, but your right if you owed them money it would be a different story all together, i don't believe in income taxes anyways.
