I realized today when looking for my check book that i usually do not pay my bills or anything by check any more. I also realize that even most businesses have got to direct deposit. How many people out there write checks and if so how many each month?
-
I don't, but my bill pay writes one for my rent every month. My older brother however uses paper money and paper checks all the time. He doesn't have a computer and wouldn't use online banking or shopping even if he did. ::)
-
Some people will not move in to the present. My grandmother was the same way. She retired the day after they got a new computer at work 30 years ago.
-
yes i do...not for everything..most of everything is paid online..but there are a few places that wont take a card and i dont carry cash if i can get out of it..but there are a few places that i go that wont takes checks or cards..i use checks at the places that i go that wont take a card
-
I have to pay my water & gas bill with a check. For some reason, they don't use automatic billing.
-
i don't i used my debit card or a credit card
-
Yes, for people who don't use computers.
-
I only write one or two checks a month these days.
-
I'm sure some people still do, however, I personally do not. I haven't written out a check in probably 8 years. I prefer to use my debit card and mentally keep a record. With online banking nowadays, it's just so much more convenient.
-
My mother still write checks, lol....We're trying to get her to pay all her bills online, so far she only pays one of them...She's slowly but surely entering the 21st century, one step at a time.
-
I never have been a check writer. I use my debit card or online bill pay.
-
I use checks for all our monthly bills. Just the way I prefer to do it.
-
I write about three check a month i pay mostly on line or use a debit card
-
I still use checks for my monthly bills.
-
I think I have written 10 checks in 3 years. Most for gifting purposes. But my mom still writes checks for everything. She pays all of her bills by check, and doesn't own a pc.
-
I still write a check for my rent each month because I had problems with the bill pay feature at my Credit Union.
I recently learned that Bill Pay and My Credit Union are separate. My credit union gave me a member number and an account number. Bill pay was putting my member number on the checks they sent out, on my behalf. The credit union didn't recognize the number so the Bill pay checks were sent back. What a circus.
Now, I don't trust bill pay to take care of my requests so I ordered checks that have my account number printed on the bottom.

We write checks out for the Electric, gas, and Water only. We do the cell phones and credit cards over the phone.
-
Very rarely I have to write a check. For example, my hairdresser doesn't take credit cards and I don't like to use up all my cash when I go there, so I just write a check instead. Some doctor's offices I go to also don't take credit cards and require that I pay by check. So I do write checks once or twice a month, but that's about it.
-
We do still write a checks. That way, its easier for us to track the balance.
-
I pay all my bills with checks.
-
No I never write checks in fact I don't even have any. Now I have ran into problems just twice over the last several years - one with an appliance repair company who only accepted checks or cash and once when I had to have my broken down car towed the company said I would have to have cash or check. But that is the only two times - can't imagine bothering with checks always use debit cards.
-
I use paper checks occasionally because it takes some brains to do it. I use the post office for some of my bills, etc., because I don't want them to go out of business.
I also write out words when I text because people don't know how to spell anymore because of cutesie acronyms. AND I write in cursive, like my signature, because no one is taught how to write anymore. We really are dumbing down America. I'm definitely not an Einstein, but I see how our country is headed technologically, ethically, morally, educationally and it's very sad. :(
Just my thoughts, for whatever they're worth. I happen to love grammar, spelling, intelligent conversation and being able to count backwards. So many things are becoming lost arts. So many things that would improve life for all.
And while I'm on a roll, why don't they still teach Home Ec and Shop in school? And why don't they teach kids how to balance their bank accounts before they go off to college and they're sent all those credit card aps to get them off on the wrong foot? It would be so nice if public schools could teach some life skills. Anybody on my side on this? :glasses-nerdy:

I pay most of my bills online but have to pay my rent by check. Trying to change my landlord to get online.

-
I hardly see any one write checks
-
I write a check every 3 months or so to my hairdresser. So I write 3 or 4 checks a year, everything else is on line or debit card. I don't like to carry cash, because I just seem to dribble it away.
-
Yes, People do, why did you see a dog or cat writing one :silly: :silly: :silly: :highfive: 8)
-
That is how I pay my bills. I have had 4 or 5 credit cards stolen, several online and one through paypal, so I do not pay stuff online.
-
I still write check's.
-
It depends if I don't have cash on me are my card but I dont
-
I pay the utility bill with a check and our offering to church.
-
I don't do many only to my church, otherwise it's debit card.
-
I use check cash or debit which ever seems right at the time.
-
I still write a check once a month they are not electronic yet.
-
For my monthly rent, and for my part-time job registration fee, but that's generally it. I try to avoid it when possible (especially since you have to reorder checks). I like using CC as much as possible because I receive some of that money back and am responsible with paying on time!
-
I still write a few every month but most of my bills are just taken out of my account monthly.
-
I write just a couple. Mostly use cc and then pay that online!
-
I still write some checks to pay my bills, but I also pay some of my bills online. When I buy things in stores, I use my debit card.
-
I think the only time I write a check now is when the boy/girl scouts come to my house selling there yummy stuff.
-
I stop writing checks long time ago and I find it weird when people ask for me to write them one.
-
I am currently in my last year of college and i know for a fact that very few from my generation writes checks or even knows how to write checks, there really is just no use for them anymore.
-
I don't write checks. Thank You!
-
I only have one bill that needs to be paid by check....I hate them, they are a hassle for me. Just like getting an envelope, a stamp & an address label for it. I can't believe I used to pay most of my bills by check about ten years ago. That seems so funny now. :)

Yes I do. I don't pay anything online. I just have a big trust issue with that information. I phone my bank autoline for that information. Computers have a lot of power with your information. It gets in the wrong hands just once and youre done. BMaston12

There are a few checks that I have to write such as my mortgage and water. I also write checks at the feed mill and the vet. Sometimes I wonder if it's really safe to be paying some of my bills online. The more I hear the less safe it seems and I may quit paying online altogether and go back to mailing checks. The convenience may not be worth it.
-
I do, have to pay the bills and I do not trust doing that over the internet.
-
I very seldom wrote checks when I was living in CA, always used debit card, everyone prefered payment that way there..when I moved back home to my hometown here in TX, checks or cash only....turns out smaller businesses get charged a lot of fees for using debit and credit cards.. :peace:
-
I have some,,,, I may write a check once in a great while. usually just swipe my debit card. isn't that what most people do these days ??? so much easier. checks will be outdated here soon lol and people really look at you weird when you hand them cash like they don't know what to do with it lol
-
I still write a few checks each month but more and more I use bill pay from BofA.
-
I would assume some people still do. My father is old school and writes checks all the time. But there are times when we need a check. Like if we go to a doctor and they bill us, we need to pay by check. I am no fan of checks anymore. I pay everything direct from my bank.
-
I do write checks for various purposes, but most of my bills are paid automatically, directly from my checking account. Otherwise, I'd forget to pay them!
-
I do sometimes to pay bills, but not so much anymore.
-
I think the income tax still give checks... Inboxdollars, used to pay in check, but now they have a rewards card.
-
I seldom write checks. I normally pay bills online. If I write a check it maybe once a month if at all. ;)
-
I hardly write checks with exception of a couple of annual payments and when I'm giving this to family members for special occasions. Most of my transfers are electronic and I love it.
-
I guess I am old school because I still write checks whenever possible.
-
I do use for my water bills and rent. Maybe 3 or 4 a month depend. The rest I pay with my card or cash.
-
Just for my monthly rent.
-
I remember when my mother was still writing checks in her late nineties. (She's now 104!) She got to where she wasn't sure if she was doing it correctly, so I started writing them for her. I write a check for her rent and medicine each month. I only write a few checks a year for myself. I write so few that now I have to be careful that I, myself, are doing them correctly!
-
I just wrote a check tonight. I still pay my city bill with a personal check.
Others are paid via auto payment schedules and I pay online.
-
i write two to three checks a month because a couple of our bills do not have the ability to pay online or to have it directly taken out of your checking account .. i much prefer to pay online and save a stamp.
-
We only use them to pay the landscapers and plumbers, etc.
-
yes im sure people do wwiye checks
-
I have not written a check in over a year. People hardly ever use them anymore. I'm not surprised considering the internet age we live in
-
i only write one a month to pay rent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
No I don't write checks I pay for everything either my debit or cash.
-
I might write a check about twice a year....perhaps not even that much.
-
I still do it for large amounts of cash other then that its a no.
