Post by: sarahlee on April 26, 2015, 07:30:44 am
Can someone please explain to me exactly what paypal is?? Can you only use the money online or what exactly? I get confused cause I've never used it before. I'm not familiar with it.

PayPal is an online payments system. Online money transfers serve as electronic alternatives to traditional paper methods like checks and money orders. PayPal is one of the world's largest internet payment companies. --Wikipedia (You can use your bank account as a back up source of income. Pay for purchases on eBay or accept money from anyone using paypal. I have had it for years and years. I even have the debit card and make 1.5% cash back on my purchases. It's truly awesome! But fees can be a nuisance! lol)

You can also request PayPal transfer money to your bank account if you have one.  For me, I have my Fusion pay deposited into my PayPal account, receive email verification from both Fusion and PayPal, and then it only takes about 3 days or so for the money to be transferred.

I use as a way to receive payments electronically, transfer funds with others and as a versatile way to pay for things online. I like the backing by the company when there are issues with purchases, especially when dealing with Ebay (not that I really had issues).

That is what I mainly use it for. I'm on a few other sites that I use paypal for to get paid. I've never sent money through it though. I just use it to transfer money to my bank account.

It is a safer way to pay for things instead of using your credit or debit cards online.  I was leery at first but it seems to be a legit company.  Many PTC sites use it which allows you to get paid faster and at lower amounts plus they keep you informed quite well about your transactions. :)

PayPal is: register your credit card or debit card with your PayPal account. You can pay by simply choosing PayPal at checkout, logging into your PayPal account, and confirming your payment. We complete the process for you, without sharing your financial details with merchants and sellers.

I really like Pay Pal because I can put money in that account and buy stuff online and not have to worry about giving out my  bank info. Definitely worth having.

it's where you can send money electronically and it stays in that account until you transfer it to your bank or if you use it up.

I do need to warn all of you that I have found phishing attempts for my PayPal account. Has that ever happened to any of you?

The phishing has just recently happened to me.  They closed the account and opened another one, they say they have more security on it.  Who ever tried to use it did not have the password, so they did not get anywhere.    I use  the paypal debit card, they notify you immediately of any charges you do.  So that is another way to keep track if someone tries to use it.

Paypal payments are the best! If you link it up with bank accounts, you can disperse any of your payments however you'd like...and you can do it on the go. Paypal is a secured payment option that I highly recommend.

Paypal is an online money receiving and transferring account.  Very legit, unlike AlertPay who closed down with $164 of my money in it.  I heard they were coming back but my account balance now remains 0 after this other company took over it smh

PayPal is so reliable I use it as a savings account.  I make my money and leave it there until I need to withdraw for something important.  Now if I could just stop shopping on ebay and amazon lol I'm getting better though.  :)

FYI, for those of you who didn't know, PayPal offers $10 per referral.  Get someone to sign up for PayPal using your referral link and you get easy money.  Well, they use to do this, I'm unsure as to what the current status is.  It's worth looking up guys!

My brother has had a paypal account for many years and keeps telling me I need to get one since I do occasionally buy online.  I'm just too much a worrier I guess but I'm sure I'll eventually get an account.

Some online sites give you the option of checking out with paypal...you will get a credit line just like a credit card and have to make on time monthly payments...you fill out an information section pretty much like you would with a regular credit card...now if you sign up for SavingStar...a great way to safe money...you can have your cash rewards sent to your paypal acct. helps to make the payments :) Just go to their web site and everything will be explained :)

I use to be skeptikal about PayPal since I have been hearing that a lot of customers on eBay got hacked and I thought PayPal was not safe and will be hacked someday too. But my brother has eBay account and have sold on eBay and loves PayPal and says it is legit so I might give it a try since I have quite of few things I wish to sell on eBay.

PayPal is great especially if you use ebay a lot.
