Title: do you take your vacations if you dont how come you dont

Your boss sounds like a real idiot. You're entitled to your vacation time and you can use it however you want to. When I worked, I never had that problem. I had 4 weeks vacation every year and if I didn't use it all, it carried over to the next year's vacation time. I made sure I used at least 2 weeks of it for a "real" vacation (going away somewhere).

taking a vacation depends on financial situation and it varies from yr. to yr.

For me, the point of a vacation is to relax and I don't find it relaxing at all to have to shop, pack, make arrangements, travel, unpack...only to re-pack and then travel to un-pack it all when I get home. (Health issues make that more like torture.)

Plus I don't like the idea of having to board or get a sitter for my critters. So I just plan a FUN, relaxing time for all of us at home. It's a time I look forward to.

It might be a stay-at-home vacation or it might be a long weekend or sometimes it was something more, but I took this time because it renewed me. Like is always said, " If you don't have anything left, how can you give something away." In this case, I felt refreshed for a little while, many times with a better attitude towards my job. When we start to burnout, then jobs, family, friends suffer. Least of all, we suffer!!!

This summer I have trips planned to Cape May, NJ for a week on the beach, to Seattle, WA for a wedding followed by day trips and to Boston to visit relatives for a week. Should be fun!
