Title: do you get the flu shot
Post by: aggie49 on June 13, 2015, 09:34:18 pm: i do and so does my family but it never fells as soon as we do ether i or my husband get it and i think it is going to me this time feeling achy sneezing hot cold fever so i got some antibiotics from the doctor so been in the bed most of the day hope it doesn't get to bad

Post by: sfreeman8 on June 14, 2015, 07:31:48 am: Heck no! I got 2 of them in my life, both in my 50s. The first one had no effect on me but I got so sick with the second one, I almost died. In fact, hubby was ready to call the funeral director!

I haven't had the flu since and have only since then and it was a mild case. I don't get the pneumonia vaccine either but the docs kept pushing both those vaccines for people over 60. It's hard to argue with them year after year. This coming winter, I'm going to wear a sign around my neck stating I will not argue but refuse the shots...end of conversation. :D

And if he catches I might catch it too. and with an autoimmune disease I do not need it. Right now I am staying away from him. He caught a summer cold from somewhere and I do not want it. So far so good. But it is not over yet.

In fact it was only last year that I realized that my son, who suffers from asthma, should be getting the needle rather than the nasal mist. I was informed by the nurse that the nasal mist can trigger an asthma attack in someone who suffers. So as a result, I have recruited my whole family to get the needle so that my son doesn't feel he's going it alone.

The flu shot is for the elderly and those who have weak, compromised immune systems. It also helps if those who are around people who are elderly or have such immune systems get the shot so they don't make these people sick. That is what immunization is about... Making the world a safe place for everyone.

I get it every year. I don't get the flu either. That is the reason I get the shot. It is worth it not to be sick. BMaston12
