this is so sad.She was there on pier 39 with her dad just walking around and was shot to death. She was 32 and so pretty. The shooter had a wrap sheet, mostly drug charges, had no reason for doing this. Can't imagine the pain the family is in.

I barely scanned today's news and saw this as one of the latest items. When will these gun-related crimes on innocent persons end in this country? smh I need to research this case a bit more before I can provide a more thorough $0.02, but I saw the word "shot" in the title and simply had to comment on the astronomical level of gun violence in this country. I understand that there are people in this country who are responsible gun owners, but I am all for restricting ownership (even if temporarily) at this point.

It is very sad, senseless tragedy.
As for the gun control aspect, that is so minor in this case. If he didn't have a gun he could have use a knife or a hatchet - like what happens in China. If there is a will there is a way. He was here illegally & had been incarcerated at least 5 times for prior crimes & had just been released from jail AGAIN, so he obviously didn't obtain that gun legally either. Chicago has the strictest gun control laws in the county, yet the worst crime rates with guns...

A true tragedy but barely got any coverage because it didn't cause an up roar. A person with a criminal history, high on pot three times the legal limit ( if she had even been in a state where it was legal) committed suicide in jail got more press attention than this lovely, thirty two year old who was working hard, contributing to society who gets gunned down in San Francisco by a felon who had been arrested at least five times prior. Oh and every one forgot to mention that he was an illegal alien who never should have been on the streets of San Francisco to begin with. That he stole the gun from a law officer's car and is claiming that it went off accidently. Seriously? That is going to be his defense? The gun he stole didn't work right? Gun laws had nothing to do with this-the gun was stolen by a felon from an officer of the law.
