Pretty exciting to hear that NASA made it to pluto....9 years and several billion miles later....quite an accomplishment...I don't think many people appreciate the effort and calculations that went into making it happen!
-
While it is pretty cool it is also a great waste of money.
-
Did they ever classify Pluto back to being a planet?

Not officially, but some of the planetary astronomers on the New Horizon project have suggested that it should be reclassified.

I guess you can say the same thing about life and how much in order this universe is and the lack of appreciation to our Creator from the majority of this world!
Job 38:4-7New International Version (NIV)
4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels[a] shouted for joy?

It's very exciting. I read in an article today they're going to use data they collect from this trip to, hopefully, restore Pluto's status. I thought it was dumb it got downgraded in the first place. I read a while back that Mercury was even smaller than Pluto and it's still considered a planet.

Well no. But in the next breath they called him a dwarf planet. I will always think of Pluto as a planet.
-
I think its amazing!! :star: :star: :star:

The photos are amazing. It may be a lot of money but for me personally, I don't mind my tax dollars going for space exploration. We have no idea of what we can learn from this type of expenditure.
-
I really want to see what's beyond Pluto.
-
I agree this is amazing stuff that I want the rest of the world to be amazed by too. Scientists are amazing people and I admire the service that they do for us medically, technologically, and socially.

space travel is still alive

I read a while back that Mercury was even smaller than Pluto and it's still considered a planet.
Mercury is twice the size of Pluto, but size isn't the only criteria they use.
-
Yes ,so Pluto is now not planet ...why??? And ain't it cool all the stuff they discovered and blew our tax dollars on before they supposedly shutdown... Earth-like planets...etc...
-
out of space! we need it, or there will be no satellite
-
Next pictures from Ur anus, I mean Uranus lololol :highfive: Like no one else was thinking that. You have to have a good sense of humor 8)

While it's great to see what's beyond out there in space, I'm also curious to see what's at the bottom of the oceans. It's pretty much like going to outer space only underwater.

Oh really? I must've read it wrong then, it was a few years ago. I'd still like to see Pluto back though.

hmm i havent heard of this.. i think i'll do some online searches and learn more about NASA's recent landing

That earth like planet thing I find very interesting. I heard we could never actually reach it unless we had way better technology than right now, but future generations have something to aspire too! Like I mentioned, I think this space discovery thing is so cool!!

It's a great event that's a new step forward for mankind! It was definitely harder than it seem. One miscalculation and they would've missed Pluto completely and had to wait another 200 years or so for it to revolve around the sun again.
-
It sounds like a great accomplishment for NASA.
-
that was pretty cool. it may have took a long time, but it was still able to provide enough pictures and such about pluto.
-
i saw a special on TV about that! It was very interesting to hear about Pluto's history.

1 small step for man,1 giant step for mankind! As Neil Armstrong said stepping on moon.
1 question i have......
Where?
-
I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures, though that'll take up to a year. Such an exciting project! I'm a space nerd, lol.
-
An amazing accomplishment.
-
Why on earth did they go to pluto ?
-
Last time i looked up pluto it said it was a dwarf planet. And i thought we had already gotten there. :) pluto was my favorite. :)
